Full Job Description

Position: Meal Analyst

Position Type: Temporary (12-month project)

Location: Hillside, NJ (Hybrid – 3 days remote)

Hours: 8:00am – 4:00pm or 9:00am – 5:00pm

Pay Range: $30.00/hr. - $37.00/hr.

We are seeking a MEAL Analyst to support a complete rehaul of agency partner reporting. The company’s partner reporting system carries a significant backlog of undigitized, unreconciled, and unverified historical data, which is the product of years of manual, fragmented reporting processes. The MEAL Analyst (Partner Reporting) is hired to address that backlog and, critically, to help build the system that replaces it. This is not a purely data entry position. It is an analyst role with a defined, time-limited mandate: audit what exists, close the gaps, and, working under the direction of the MEAL Manager (Partner Reporting), build the data infrastructure that makes manual remediation permanently unnecessary. The person in this role will need to move between detailed execution and systems thinking. The MEAL Manager will set the strategic direction and architectural requirements for the new reporting system. The MEAL Analyst is responsible for building, automating, and backlogging it.

What you will be doing:

Conduct a comprehensive audit of all systems through which partners report and partner reporting data is stored, including Oasis Insight, the Partner Reporting SharePoint, the partner reporting inbox, and any physical reporting the company receives.
Systematically identify what exists, what is missing, and what has never been submitted, categorized by agency, reporting year, and submission status.
Produce a data gap registry: a structured, quarriable record of reporting history by partner.
Flag reports requiring outreach (never received, incomplete, or outside expected ranges) for Coordinator action.
Translate audit findings into a governed data infrastructure for partner reporting, including the Partner Reporting workbook structure, CRM configuration, SharePoint folder conventions, and any additional storage or pipeline components the MEAL Manager determines are needed.
Build out the workbook, file structure, and intake protocols to the MEAL Manager's specifications.
Document the infrastructure design decisions, naming conventions, and data entry standards.
Digitize physical reports and input historical report values (serving data, lbs. distributed) from paper records and undigitized files into the Partner Reporting workbook.
Reconcile entered values against existing workbook entries; document and escalate discrepancies to the MEAL Manager.
Convert files into required formats (readable PDF or Excel) per MEAL Manager specifications.
Track and document structured outreach to partners who have never submitted, have significant gaps, or possess historical reports CFBNJ has not collected.
Maintain Asana as the system of record for all outreach attempts, responses, and resolution outcomes.
Formally document reporting gaps and escalating to the MEAL Manager and Compliance Assistant Director for compliance decisions.
Develop and automate data intake, validation, and storage workflows that replace current manual and paper-based processes.
Support the building of reporting outputs (dashboards, automated summary tables, or scheduled reports) using Microsoft Dynamics CRM, the CFBNJ data warehouse, R or Python based pipelines, or the tools the MEAL Manager specifies.
Document all system components, data dictionaries, and workflow logic to a standard that is maintainable by the MEAL team.
Test and iterate on system components with input from the MEAL Manager, MEAL Analyst (Fulfillment), and MEAL Systems Coordinators.
Ensure all completed remediation work is organized, labeled, and documented.
Produce a final remediation summary and full system documentation for the new partner reporting infrastructure.
Train the MEAL Manager, MEAL Analyst (Fulfillment), and MEAL Systems Coordinators on the new system.
Support the MEAL Manager in transition planning to ensure ongoing intake tasks and reporting infrastructure can be maintained after remediation.
The scope of work / phases will vary once the data gap registry is completed and we receive feedback from both partners and other internal departments of our proposals.

What experience we are looking for:

Bachelor’s degree in data analytics, public health, or a related field, or equivalent experience. Master’s degree is highly competitive.
1-3 years of experience in data analysis, reporting, automation, and/or monitoring.
Proficiency in Power BI, Tableau, or similar data visualization software.
Proficiency in R, Python, or similar data analysis software.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and database management. Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics or CRM Customization is a plus.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Experience in nonprofit or food security sectors is a plus.
