Full Job Description

Job Title: Accounting Assistant

Reports To: Controller

Employment Type: Full-Time (Non-Exempt) ON-SITE

Job Summary

The Accounting Assistant will perform routine clerical, filing, and data entry tasks for accounting data including accounts payable, billing, and receivables.

Key Responsibilities

Daily entries for accounting records include accounts payable, billing, and accounts receivable for multiple entities.
Record customer payments and prepare aging reports for management.
Review of billing statements, invoices, and similar documents for accuracy; alerts supervisory staff of any discrepancies.
Verify that the correct freight charges have been billed to customers.
Monthly Sales tax reports for multiple states.
DOT reporting and permits.
Assist with HR duties such as attendance tracking, interviews and onboarding of new hires.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills

Strong understanding of debits, credits, journal entries and general ledger accounting principles.
Ability to accurately and efficiently enter data into computer software and systems.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Quickbooks / Intuit, Google or related software.
Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team

Education and Experience:

Associate’s degree in accounting, or related field, preferred.
At least one year of related experience is required.

Physical Requirements

Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
