Full Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Lead Fabricator to oversee and execute complex fabrication projects from concept to completion. The ideal candidate is a hands-on expert in TIG and MIG welding, CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, and project management. This role demands innovation, problem-solving, and a deep understanding of shop processes, tooling, and materials to deliver high-quality, precision-built components.

Key Responsibilities:

Fabrication & Welding:
Perform high-quality TIG and MIG welding on various metals (aluminum, stainless steel, mild steel, etc.).
Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD files to fabricate parts to spec.
Ensure all welds and fabrications meet quality and tolerance standards.
Machining:
Operate and program CNC lathes and Manual Mills for custom part production.
Utilize CAD/CAM software to create or modify tool paths and part programs.
Perform precision machining operations with minimal supervision.
Sheet Metal Fabrication:
Set up and operate CNC press brakes, shears, rollers, and other sheet metal equipment.
Work with various gauges of sheet metal for complex and accurate assemblies.
Tooling & Shop Equipment:
Maintain, set up, and optimize usage of shop tools and fixtures.
Develop or modify jigs, fixtures, and custom tooling as needed for one-off or production runs.
Innovation & Creativity:
Apply creative problem-solving to unique and complex fabrication challenges.
Innovate new processes, techniques, or tooling methods to improve efficiency and quality.
Proactively suggest design or fabrication improvements to achieve the best final result.

Qualifications:

· 10+ years of experience in a fabrication or machine shop environment, with at least 2 years in a lead or supervisory role.

· Proficient in TIG and MIG welding across a variety of metals.

· Advanced experience with CNC lathe and mill operations, including programming.

· Skilled in sheet metal work, including CNC press brake operation.

· Strong knowledge of shop tools, materials, and fabrication techniques.

· Ability to read and interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, and schematics.

· Excellent project management and time management skills.

· Strong leadership, communication, and mentoring abilities.

Preferred Skills:

Experience with CAD/CAM software (Fusion 360, ONE CNC, SolidWorks, etc.).
Background in prototyping, motorsports, aerospace, or architectural metalwork.
Knowledge of finishing techniques: grinding, polishing, coating prep, etc.
Forklift certification is a plus.
