Position Summary
The House Manager (HM) is responsible for the day-to-day operations and oversight of a designated residential group home within Golden Gateways Corp. This position ensures that all services are provided in accordance with state regulations, internal policies, and GGC's mission to deliver high-quality, person-centered care. The House Manager supports Direct Support Professionals (DSPs), monitors compliance with care standards, coordinates consumer needs, and provides leadership in maintaining a safe, therapeutic, and structured environment.
Core Responsibilities
Training & Supervision
- Supervise DSPs and provide regular performance feedback (both positive and corrective).
- Conduct and document monthly staff meetings and ongoing coaching.
- Ensure daily stand-up forms are completed and reviewed.
- Review T-Logs and ISP data daily to ensure consistency and compliance.
- Monitor behavior data and staff adherence to reporting expectations.
- Oversee staff compliance with consumer supervision and support standards.
- Train staff in line with consumer rights, emergency response, and care plans.
Residential Habilitation & Program Oversight
- Ensure services are delivered in compliance with Chapter 393, Rule 65G, Medicaid Waiver Handbook, APD requirements, and GGC policy.
- Promote independence, community integration, and behavior reduction for all residents.
- Support applied behavior analysis service delivery.
- Maintain consistent communication with family members, guardians, Support Coordinators, APD reps, physicians, and other stakeholders.
- Oversee and support admission, transfer, and discharge planning.
Quality Assurance & Safety
- Routinely audit documentation to ensure compliance with governing standards.
- Review incident and shift reports and take necessary follow-up actions.
- Address maintenance needs promptly and ensure home cleanliness and safety daily.
Financial & Administrative Duties
- Assist with petty cash, banking, and inventory reconciliation.
- Monitor and maintain household budget for groceries and supplies.
Medical Coordination
- Ensure medication is stored, administered, and documented per Rule 65G-7.
- Coordinate healthcare appointments and follow-up care.
- Promote overall health, safety, and well-being of residents.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or relevant college coursework in human services, healthcare, psychology, social work, or a related field preferred.
- At least two years of experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities, preferably in a residential or group-home setting.
- Working knowledge of the Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD) system, requirements, and service-delivery expectations.
- Experience using Therap or similar electronic documentation systems for service notes, medication documentation, incident reporting, appointments, and consumer records.
- Ability to develop, maintain, and communicate staff schedules; coordinate coverage; monitor staffing needs; and respond promptly to call-outs.
- Familiarity with basic medical terminology and the ability to accurately communicate medical information, appointments, medication-related updates, and health concerns to appropriate staff, nurses, guardians, and providers.
- Knowledge of reactive strategies and the ability to respond calmly, safely, and professionally to behavioral incidents or crises while following agency policies, behavior plans, and required reporting procedures.
- Knowledge of behavior-focused support practices, including implementing Behavior Support Plans, documenting behavioral observations, identifying triggers, using positive reinforcement, and promoting person-centered care.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to complete shift notes, incident reports, staff communications, and other required documentation accurately and on time.
- Ability to supervise, coach, and support direct-care staff while promoting accountability, professionalism, compliance, and quality care.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced residential environment.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA, APD, agency policies, and all applicable state and regulatory requirements.
- Valid Florida driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and ability to meet required background screening, training, and certification requirements.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Google and documentation systems.
- Adequate vision, hearing, verbal skills, writing, math, and physical ability to lift 70 lbs.
Schedule & Compensation
- 45 hours per week salaried position.
- Additional hours only permitted if covering on-call absences or open shifts.
- House Managers are on-call when not on shift to support their designated home.
- Overtime is paid only for hours worked above 50 hours per week.
- Schedule includes flexibility to cover emergencies, staff shortages, and after-hours needs as required.
