Full Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Costing and Purchasing Manager is responsible for deciding the projected time frame needed to complete a project and additional factors like labor needs, materials, budget, and potential setbacks. This role will manage the project budget, contractor communication, and track key performance indicators. The Costing and Purchasing Manager will communicate with team members and subcontractors to ensure the project remains under budget. This role will act as a liaison between the project management team and subcontractors, preparing and presenting progress reports to ensure the project is aligned with organizational goals.

OBJECTIVES

● Plan and organize work to maximize crew productivity by deploying delay-free production practices

● Prepare Look Ahead schedules to maximize equipment utilization, ensuring availability, and operational effectiveness

● Understand full Scope of Work (SOW) and specifications of the project assigned: Estimate, Labor-hour budget, and production rates; communicating plan details to Management Team

● Ensure all safety requirements are being met throughout the project, and review as needed with Manager

● Perform quality control checkpoint to ensure high QC/QA requirements and standards are met

● Coordinate labor and materials to be onsite in alignment with established Look Ahead schedule

● Manage up to 8-10 projects at a time; managing resources and personnel effectively to impress maximum revenue for the business

● Manage progress and make adjustments as needed

● Ensure all activities are completed according to the agreed upon plan and specifications

● Manage an organized work area, jobsite, while ensuring all branded vehicles and equipment is maintained in a neat, clean, and organized manner

● Accurately report to supervisor hours worked, production, plan discrepancies, and completed quantities

● Maintain professional relationships with owners, subcontractors, vendors, and worksite team members

● Verify and Code all receipts, tickets, and invoices weekly to accurately account for all job-related costs; assist with monthly billing through report & review of completed quantities

● Submit daily “Wins”, report tasks, daily activities through Daily Logs

● Perform other duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

● Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, finance, accounting, statistics, or related field. Candidates with a degree and training in engineering management or project management with relevant work experience may also be qualified

● Minimum 7 years of construction or home building experience; Minimum 3 years costing and estimating experience required

● Proficiency in issuing and operating a PO system

● Proficiency in BuilderTrend and Quickbooks (Preferred)

● Proficiency in Google Workspace and Microsoft Office, specifically Excel

● Valid driver’s license

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

● Requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, use hands/fingers, reach, talk, hear, climb, stoop, kneel or crouch.

● Requires ability to occasionally lift up to 50lbs

● Position may require travel to and from field sites to monitor the status of multiple projects
