Workday OPAL Product Director

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Workday OPAL Product Director to lead the strategy, roadmap, implementation, optimization, and continuous improvement of Workday Financial Management and Purchasing modules. This is a senior leadership role responsible for managing a large cross-functional Workday team and partnering with business, technical, and executive stakeholders to deliver high-impact Workday solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Define, manage, and maintain the Workday product roadmap aligned with organizational goals.
Lead Workday Finance, Purchasing, and related module initiatives from planning through delivery.
Manage and mentor a cross-functional team of functional experts, analysts, administrators, and technical resources.
Partner with senior leaders and business stakeholders to prioritize Workday enhancements, upgrades, and optimization efforts.
Translate business requirements into actionable system configurations, improvements, and product initiatives.
Lead Workday implementation projects, system upgrades, configurations, integrations, and reporting improvements.
Monitor project timelines, risks, scope, budget, and delivery quality.
Evaluate system performance and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, user experience, and operational effectiveness.
Lead the adoption of new Workday features and functionality.
Ensure Workday integrations with enterprise systems are effective, secure, and reliable.
Serve as a subject matter expert for Workday-related topics.
Support change management, training, documentation, and end-user adoption.
Ensure Workday configurations and updates comply with applicable policies, security standards, privacy requirements, and regulatory obligations.
Partner with IT and security teams to maintain data integrity, confidentiality, and system security.

Required Qualifications

Strong hands-on knowledge of Workday Finance, Purchasing, and related Workday modules.
Experience with Workday configuration, deployment, implementation, and post-implementation support.
Proven experience leading Workday product strategy in a complex enterprise or public-sector environment.
Strong understanding of finance, purchasing, procurement, compliance, and operational business processes.
Experience managing large cross-functional teams.
Ability to work with senior leadership, business stakeholders, functional teams, and technical teams.
Strong project management, organizational, and time management skills.
Ability to deliver high-quality results on time and within scope.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Experience with Workday Studio, Workday Integrations, Workday Reporting, and related technical components.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with other ERP systems.
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, Finance, or a related field.
MBA, Workday Certification, or other advanced certification preferred.
10+ years of experience in financial systems management, system configuration, integration, and optimization.
5+ years of leadership experience managing large cross-functional teams.
Experience with large-scale Workday implementations, system optimizations, and product roadmap development.
Knowledge of data privacy, compliance, and security requirements.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to influence, build relationships, and communicate effectively at all organizational levels.
Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities.
Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to delivering excellent service and business value.
Adaptable and flexible in response to changing business needs and priorities.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a senior Workday Finance and Purchasing leader with strong product ownership, implementation, roadmap, and team leadership experience. This role is best suited for someone who can bridge business strategy, Workday functionality, technical delivery, stakeholder engagement, and operational excellence.

Work Arrangement

This position is fully onsite. Remote or hybrid work is not available for this role.

Pay: $55.00 - $60.00 per hour
