Full Job Description

THE POSITION

The Westmoreland County Assistance Office in the Department of Human Services is seeking a Clerical Assistant 2 who wants meaningful work in a supportive environment. This position lets you assist clients, handle applications, and keep program records organized. You will gain experience with computer systems and office procedures that strengthen daily operations. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position supports LIHEAP services by assisting clients, handling applications, and completing daily clerical work that keeps the program moving. It plays an important part in helping families receive energy assistance through organized and accurate processing. As a Clerical Assistant 2, you will perform the following duties:

Client Greeting: Greet clients, gather information, and distribute the correct applications
Application Review: Check completed applications for accuracy and completeness
Document Handling: Copy client information, scan and attach applications, and shred outdated materials
Computer Processing: Use system tools to file clear, process applications, and route them to energy workers
Phone Support: Retrieve messages from the LIHEAP phone system and return calls to clients
Program Assistance: Perform tasks that support crisis program work, including faxing information to vendors

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time, seasonal employment, 37.5 hours per week.
- Seasonal employment runs approximately 6-8 months during the fall and winter seasons to assist clients in the process of applying for heating assistance.
Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with a 1-hour lunch.
Travel and overtime as needed.
Work Conditions: Assigned duties are performed in a controlled office environment. In counties with District Offices, employees may be reassigned to different work sites due to operational needs. Reassignments will be made in compliance with contract language.
Telework: This position may be eligible to telework part time. Specific details of the telework schedule will be discussed during the interview process. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Greensburg, PA. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.
Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting hourly rate of $18.83 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
Graduation from high school; or
An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Hiring preference for this vacancy will be given to candidates who live within Westmoreland County. If no eligible candidates who live within Westmoreland County apply for this position candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
You must be able to perform essential job functions.
