Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and innovative Chemical Research and Development Specialist to drive forward the Company efforts in developing cutting-edge chemical solutions that accelerate innovation choices. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of scientific discovery, applying your expertise to create impactful products and processes, and ignite your entrepreneurial spirit. The Chemical Research & Development Specialist will focus on the development of chemical formulas for new products, reformulate existing products in response to availability of raw materials or to improve efficacy, and provide customer relationship oversight.

This role is critical to the organization’s success in developing innovative product solutions that drive bottom line sales growth. The Chemical Research & Development Specialist will be instrumental in ensuring the company’s long-term self-sufficiency, product excellence, and customer satisfaction.

The company is currently open 5 days per week but may change to 7 days per week.

Responsibilities

Product Innovation:

Conduct research and development on new chemical formulas for product innovation and reformulate existing products.
Direct method development, multi-step synthesis, material characterization, stability testing, validation studies and IP generation and/or creation
Ensure compliance with regulatory standards such as FDA, GHS, and REACH.
Support the maintenance of quality assurance systems aligned with established industry standards, customer specifications, and production goals (e.g., ISO, ASTM, cGMP).

Quality Assurance:

Conduct hazard analyses, identify critical control points and define preventative measures, and establish monitoring procedures.
Validate quality processes by establishing and validating product specifications, troubleshoot issues, implement scale-up tests, measure production with documented proof of evidence.
Maintain and enhance product quality in a production environment through internal audits, investigation of customer complaints, and multi-functional collaboration with management.

Customer Follow-Up:

Support the sales department by providing technical expertise and following up with old and new customers for new products purchase.
Travel up to 30% (or more as needed) to meet with customers and support sales efforts.

Reporting and IT Collaboration:

Develop and maintain detailed research records.
Ensure that all necessary reports are defined, created, and integrated into the ERP system in alignment with business needs.

Experience

Proven experience in chemical research and development within a fast-paced industrial or academic environment.
Strong understanding of chemical synthesis, formulation science, and process optimization.
Proficiency in lab measurements science and analytical instruments, e.g., IR spectroscopy, HPLC, GC and Titration systems.
Strong project management skills with a proven ability to coordinate cross-functional teams.
Proficiency in documenting business processes and creating standard operating procedures.
Strong customer service and organizational skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Experience in quality assurance, product development, and regulatory compliance.
Effective communicator capable of translating complex scientific concepts for diverse audiences.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and travel as required.
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry; advanced degrees preferred.
