Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and organized Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team! In this vital role, you will be the first point of contact for patients and visitors, ensuring a welcoming environment while managing a wide range of administrative and clinical support tasks. Responsibilities

Greet patients and visitors warmly, providing excellent customer service while managing check-in and check-out procedures.
Schedule appointments efficiently using medical scheduling software and coordinate provider calendars.
Verify patient insurance information, process payments, and handle medical billing and collections with accuracy.
Maintain electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, or other EMR platforms by updating patient information and reviewing documentation.
Assist with medical coding tasks including CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9/10 (International Classification of Diseases), and ICD coding to ensure accurate billing and record keeping.
Manage phone communications professionally, answer inquiries, transfer calls appropriately, and document messages clearly.
Support clinical staff by reviewing medical records for completeness, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations, and maintaining confidentiality at all times.
Perform clerical duties such as filing, data entry using 10-key typing, faxing, scanning documents, and managing office supplies.
Collaborate with healthcare providers on care plans documentation review and ensure all administrative processes adhere to healthcare policies.
Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for report generation and correspondence.

Skills

Extensive experience with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks; familiarity with electronic health records management is essential.
Strong knowledge of medical billing procedures including insurance claims processing, Medicare guidelines, CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and health insurance policies.
Excellent customer service skills with a professional phone etiquette; ability to communicate clearly with patients and team members.
Bilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
Proven clinic or medical office experience with a solid understanding of medical terminology and health information management practices.
Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) along with basic computer skills for data entry and documentation review.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for accurate record keeping and appointment scheduling.
Experience working in hospital or dental clinic environments is a plus; familiarity with medical administrative support roles is preferred.
