Community First Bank of the Heartland is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Controller to join our team in Mount Vernon, Illinois. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing the Bank's accounting operations, ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, and supporting executive management with financial analysis and strategic planning.

Position Details
- Position: Controller
- Location: Mount Vernon, IL
- Schedule: Full-Time, 40 hours per week
- Hours: Monday-Friday
- Salary: $55,000-$75,000 annually (based on qualifications and experience)
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily accounting operations, including the general ledger, accounts payable, fixed assets, and account reconciliations.
- Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Manage month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Maintain and strengthen internal accounting controls and procedures.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
- Coordinate internal audits conducted by external auditors.
- Assist in preparing financial reports for executive management and the Board of Directors.
- Monitor cash flow and overall financial performance.
- Ensure timely filing of required tax and regulatory reports.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiencies and streamline accounting processes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
Preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA designation is preferred but not required. Additional compensation is available for candidates who hold an active CPA license.
