NRE is seeking an experienced Supply Chain Systems Manager to provide leadership and oversight for warehouse, shipping and receiving, distribution, and inventory operations across multiple company locations.
This position is responsible for ensuring the timely, efficient, and accurate movement and storage of purchased materials and equipment while maintaining an uninterrupted flow of products to internal and external customers.
The ideal candidate will bring strong manufacturing and materials management experience, a solid understanding of inventory and MRP/ERP systems, and the leadership skills necessary to drive consistent processes and continuous improvement across multiple locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage inventory control functions and staff across company locations.
- Provide direct leadership and oversight to storeroom, warehouse, shipping, and receiving employees across multiple facilities.
- Conduct on-site audits and train employees on proper inventory, warehouse, and materials management practices and procedures.
- Direct physical inventory and perpetual cycle-counting activities.
- Oversee inventory management processes to minimize inventory and storage costs while supporting operational requirements.
- Monitor and review inventory adjustments and changes, including supporting root-cause analysis.
- Develop, monitor, and communicate key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive improved results across locations.
- Analyze reports, measurements, and external benchmarks to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Lead the materials team in identifying and implementing improvements to processes and procedures.
- Partner with the Director of Purchasing to recommend operational and process improvements.
- Work with Quality Control to resolve material and quality-related issues.
- Coordinate with Project Managers and General Managers to establish workflow, release dates, order priorities, and other material requirements.
- Utilize Sage and related systems to analyze material requirements and plan, schedule, or modify orders.
- Promote consistent inventory, warehouse, and materials management practices across all NRE locations.
- Support the company's quality system and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and performance.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment and ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and safety requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Materials Management, Accounting, Supply Chain, or a related field preferred.
- Candidates without a bachelor's degree may be considered based on relevant experience in materials management, railroad operations, manufacturing, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, including significant experience with purchasing, inventory, planning, supervision, and MRP systems.
- Experience managing warehouse, inventory, shipping/receiving, or materials operations.
- Strong working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems; experience with Sage or a similar ERP system is preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Excel.
- Strong planning, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and adjust quickly as operational needs change.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to delegate, coach, motivate, and positively influence employee performance.
- Ability to work effectively across departments and locations.

Supervisory Responsibilities
This position provides leadership and oversight to warehouse and storeroom employees across company facilities, including shipping and receiving personnel.
Travel
Approximately 25% travel is expected to company locations and other domestic locations, with possible international travel as business needs require.

The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a manufacturing environment, digging into inventory data and ERP systems, identifying the root cause of issues, and working directly with employees and operational leaders to improve processes.
This role requires someone who can balance systems, processes, and people—establishing clear expectations while helping multiple locations operate as one coordinated materials organization.
