Founded in 2016, Owen’s Craft Mixers produces high quality ingredient driven cocktail mixers, which help deliver a consistently refreshing and delicious tasting cocktail every time it is poured. Owen’s is proudly made in the USA with quality ingredients, including pure cane sugar instead of corn syrup, real juice and a clean ingredient list. The products are distributed nationwide and easy to find at leading retailers, bars, stadiums, and restaurants.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Controller to oversee and manage all financial operations for Owen’s Craft Mixers. This individual will oversee the monthly close, financial reporting, cash flow management, inventory accounting, internal controls, and compliance, while partnering closely with Operations, Sales, Supply Chain, and executive leadership. This role is critical to supporting the company’s continued growth and requires a hands-on professional who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

Responsibilities:

As our Controller, your primary responsibilities will include:

Financial Reporting & Accounting:

Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process
Prepare accurate GAAP-compliant financial statements
Maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate account reconciliations.
Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll accounting, fixed assets, accruals, and cash management.
Prepare monthly reporting packages for executive leadership and the Board

Accounts Payable & Receivable:

Manage and oversee all accounts payable processes, including invoice processing, vendor payments, and reconciliation.
Oversee accounts receivable, including invoicing, collections, and cash application to ensure timely and accurate revenue recognition.
Monitor aging reports and proactively address outstanding balances.

Cash Flow & Working Capital:

Develop rolling cash flow forecasts
Monitor working capital, including inventory, receivables, and payables
Recommend strategies to improve cash conversion and operational efficiency

Inventory and Cost Accounting

Own inventory accounting across co-manufacturers and warehouses
Monitor inventory valuation, standard costs, freight, manufacturing variances, and landed costs
Partner with Operations to improve inventory accuracy and reporting

Financial Operations

Own and administer the company’s corporate credit card program, including policy development, employee training, expense compliance, and monthly reconciliation
Establish corporate card policies to ensure appropriate spending, timely reporting, and adherence to company guidelines
Monitor employee expense reporting and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, controls, and cost management.
Partner with department leaders to ensure company spending aligns with budgets and financial policies.

Minimum Qualifications:

5–8 years of progressive accounting experience, including hands-on accounts payable and accounts receivable management
Proficiency in QuickBooks, Bill.com (preferred) and other accounting tools; strong Excel skills required
Experience managing a corporate credit card program (American Express preferred)
Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles
Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to present financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders
Self-starter with the ability to work independently and take ownership of financial processes
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required

Preferred Qualifications:

CPA designation or progress toward CPA preferred
Experience in a consumer goods, beverage, or distribution company environment
Familiarity with inventory accounting and cost of goods sold reporting
Desire to grow within the role and contribute to broader financial strategy as the company scales
Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally

Pay: $125,000.00 - $145,000.00 per year

Work Location: Hybrid remote in Palo Alto, CA 94304
