Position Summary
This position reports to the Operations Department and is responsible for supporting daily janitorial and operational functions across designated facilities and job sites. This role plays a vital part in maintaining the cleanliness, safety, hygiene, and overall appearance of the workplace while ensuring a positive experience for building occupants, visitors, and team members.
This position is responsible for executing a wide range of custodial, operational, and support-related tasks throughout the day, including cleaning and sanitization, waste management, floor care support, material handling, and facility readiness. The role requires strong attention to detail, adaptability, professionalism, and a proactive approach to maintaining a clean, safe, and organized environment.
This position is expected to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills while effectively supporting team operations in a fast-paced environment. The ability to work independently and collaboratively, follow verbal and written instructions, and maintain consistent attendance and punctuality is essential to the overall success of site operations.
Key ResponsibilitiesJanitorial & Facility Cleaning Operations
- Perform regular cleaning and sanitization of common areas, lobbies, restrooms, break rooms, and other designated spaces in accordance with established cleaning procedures and schedules.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and maintain floors and carpets to ensure areas remain clean, safe, and free from debris, stains, or hazards.
- Dust and wipe surfaces including furniture, windowsills, fixtures, doors, and equipment to maintain a neat and professional appearance throughout the facility.
- Promptly respond to spills, accidents, or sanitation concerns to minimize safety risks and maintain workplace cleanliness.
- Collect, empty, and properly dispose of trash, cardboard, recyclables, and waste materials while ensuring waste containers remain sanitary and organized.
- Ensure proper separation and disposal of waste and recyclable materials in compliance with company procedures and safety standards.
- Maintain the appearance and readiness of shared spaces, reception areas, and common areas by organizing furniture and reducing clutter.
Operational Support & Team Assistance
- Execute work assignments according to verbal, written, or diagram-based instructions while maintaining accuracy and efficiency.
- Assist custodial staff with special projects and provide coverage for open assignments due to staffing or operational needs.
- Support additional personnel and departments as required to ensure successful completion of operational activities.
- Travel to various job sites as needed to support business and departmental requirements.
- Maintain punctuality, professionalism, and reliability while supporting onsite operations and team coordination.
- Use logic and reasoning to identify operational challenges and assist in resolving issues effectively.
Equipment Operation & Floor Care Support
- Train in the operation and proper use of custodial equipment and floor care machinery, including wet vacuums, auto scrubbers, extractors, pressure washers, steam cleaners, and high-speed buffers.
- Operate industrial cleaning machines safely and effectively while performing basic equipment maintenance to ensure operational readiness.
- Acquire knowledge of various flooring materials and the appropriate cleaning and maintenance procedures for each surface type.
- Operate forklifts to transport materials between buildings and assist with collection and disposal processes.
- Perform heavy lifting and material handling related to cardboard, trash, recycling, and operational supplies.
- Participate in future training opportunities involving lifts and other operational equipment.
Safety, Compliance & Workplace Standards
- Adhere to all company policies, safety procedures, and operational guidelines while performing assigned duties.
- Handle cleaning chemicals and custodial supplies safely while using required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Remain alert to potential safety hazards, maintenance concerns, or operational issues and report them promptly to appropriate personnel.
- Read and interpret Safety Data Sheets (SDS), operating instructions, maintenance procedures, and other workplace documentation.
- Support a strong culture of safety, accountability, and operational excellence across all assigned work areas.
Customer Service & Workplace Experience
- Provide courteous, professional, and responsive customer service to occupants, visitors, clients, and coworkers.
- Maintain a friendly and approachable demeanor while assisting with inquiries, requests, or operational support needs.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, clients, and vendors to ensure efficient coordination and workflow.
- Contribute to a positive, team-oriented environment focused on collaboration, professionalism, and high-quality service delivery.
Qualifications
- Previous janitorial or custodial experience required.
- Strong understanding of janitorial procedures, cleaning techniques, equipment, and custodial products preferred.
- Experience in support coordination, facilities support, or similar operational roles preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret Safety Data Sheets (SDS), maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and operational documentation.
- Ability to follow verbal, written, and diagram-based instructions accurately and efficiently.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced, high-volume, detail-oriented environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a strong customer service mindset.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and address operational challenges proactively.

Requirements
- Regular attendance and physical presence at the job site is required to support daily operations.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must possess and maintain a valid California Driver’s License with a clean motor vehicle record (MVR).
- High school diploma or GED required; equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English to ensure accurate documentation and clear communication with employees, visitors, supervisors, and vendors.
- Ability to operate hand tools and custodial equipment appropriate to assigned tasks.
- Ability to move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects and materials throughout the workday.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds unassisted.
- Frequent use of hands, reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling, and repetitive physical movements throughout the shift.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods while performing operational and janitorial responsibilities.
- Ability to work in varying temperature environments, including indoor and outdoor areas of the facility.
- May require travel between company sites; employee must provide reliable transportation or operate a company vehicle if authorized.
This job is located in San Jose, CA.
Schedule: Monday through Friday 12:00 PM to 8:30 PM
Compensation: $22.00 (hourly)
