Full Job Description

We are seeking an experienced, bilingual, and highly organized Bilingual Certified Medical Assistant – Patient Care Coordinator & Insurance Verification Specialist to join our growing healthcare team. This Bilingual Certified Medical Assistant – Patient Care Coordinator & Insurance Verification Specialist will be responsible for patient scheduling, insurance verification, prior authorizations, surgical coordination, medical records management, and front office support.

The ideal Bilingual Certified Medical Assistant – Patient Care Coordinator & Insurance Verification Specialist is fluent in English and Spanish, has strong medical office experience, and excels at delivering exceptional patient care and customer service in a fast-paced healthcare environment. This role is ideal for a Certified Medical Assistant who has experience with medical scheduling, patient intake, insurance verification, surgery coordination, and electronic medical records.

Responsibilities:

Serve as the primary Bilingual Certified Medical Assistant – Patient Care Coordinator & Insurance Verification Specialist for English- and Spanish-speaking patients
Greet patients, complete patient intake, distribute new patient paperwork, verify demographics, and maintain accurate patient charts and medical records
Perform insurance verification, benefits verification, prior authorizations, referrals, and insurance eligibility checks for all scheduled appointments and procedures
Answer incoming phone calls and emails in both English and Spanish regarding appointments, insurance coverage, surgery scheduling, patient instructions, and billing questions
Schedule patient appointments, consultations, follow-up visits, surgeries, procedures, emergency appointments, and add-on cases
Coordinate surgical scheduling by confirming physician availability, room scheduling, equipment needs, staffing requirements, and procedure timing
Provide pre-operative and post-operative instructions to patients in both English and Spanish
Manage electronic medical records (EMR), patient charts, insurance documentation, surgical paperwork, and post-operative documentation
Enter patient information, insurance details, referrals, authorizations, and surgical notes into the EMR system with a high degree of accuracy
Ensure all patient care documentation, surgery scheduling, and insurance information is completed accurately and on time
Maintain HIPAA compliance and protect confidential patient information at all times
Work closely with physicians, nurses, insurance companies, and office staff to ensure a seamless patient experience

Required Qualifications:

Active Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification required
Must be bilingual in English and Spanish
Previous experience as a Bilingual Certified Medical Assistant – Patient Care Coordinator & Insurance Verification Specialist, Medical Assistant, Medical Receptionist, Surgical Scheduler, or Insurance Verification Specialist strongly preferred
Strong knowledge of medical terminology, healthcare administration, patient scheduling, insurance verification, prior authorizations, referrals, and medical billing terminology
Experience with electronic medical records (EMR), medical scheduling software, and Microsoft Office
Excellent customer service, communication, and patient relationship skills
Strong typing, data entry, telephone, and computer skills
Ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and remain organized in a fast-paced medical office
Detail-oriented with strong follow-through and the ability to manage sensitive patient information accurately
