Position: Bilingual HR & Onboarding Associate (Contract-to-Hire)
Reports To: Director of Human Resources
Location: Milwaukee, WI; on-site four days per week with one remote day (on-site-first)
Travel: None
Engagement: Competitive hourly rate commensurate with experience; approximately six-month W-2 contract through Chamberlain Advisors, with access to benefits and strong potential to convert to a permanent role.
Chamberlain Advisors is partnering with Roofed Right America to identify a Bilingual HR & Onboarding Associate to support a fast-growing, private-equity-backed commercial roofing platform. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity based in Milwaukee, ideal for an early-career professional who is fluent in English and Spanish and energized by high-touch, people-centered work. The role blends recruiting coordination, employee support, onboarding, and everyday HR systems help, and it offers a clear path to a permanent position for someone who excels.
Core Profile: what you bring to the role
- Bilingual Employee & Candidate Support: You will serve as a dependable, bilingual point of contact for a workforce that is roughly three-quarters Spanish-speaking, supporting employees and candidates in both English and Spanish with patience and care. You will be the person team members can stop by, call, or email when they need help, and you will follow through until their questions are resolved.
- Recruiting & Talent Coordination: You will keep the hiring engine moving through a high-volume busy season, reviewing incoming applicants, conducting template-based phone screens, scheduling interviews, and guiding qualified candidates toward an offer. You will partner closely with the recruiter and take pride in moving quickly while keeping every candidate warm and informed.
- Onboarding & Compliance Administration: You will own the details of getting new team members set up correctly, from I-9 and E-Verify to offer letters, document collection, and system entry. You will be organized and diligent, closing the loop on every compliance step and following up patiently with candidates who need extra guidance.
- HR Systems Tier-1 Support & Data Integrity: You will be the first line of support for everyday questions in the company's HR systems, handling password resets, login help, and routine record and life-event changes. You will make sure employee information is accurate and that clean, correct data reaches the teams that depend on it.
- Adaptability, Critical Thinking & Growth Orientation: You will bring judgment beyond simple data entry, solving routine problems on your own and knowing when to escalate, and you will stay nimble as priorities shift between busy-season hiring and off-season projects. This role will not suit someone who needs a rigid, unchanging routine, is uncomfortable in a hands-on blue-collar environment, or is unwilling to spend much of the day helping people directly.
Core Responsibilities & Scope of Work:
Recruiting & Talent Coordination
- Applicant Screening: Review the daily flow of applicants across open roles, sift out the noise, and act quickly on qualified candidates to keep the pipeline moving during busy season.
- Phone Screens: Conduct initial phone screens using established templates and scripts, capturing consistent information and advancing strong candidates efficiently.
- Interview Coordination: Schedule and coordinate interviews, keep candidates informed, and partner closely with the recruiter to fill high-volume field and hourly roles.
- Candidate Nurture: Maintain warm, responsive communication with candidates in English and Spanish, following up frequently to guide them through each step of the process.
Bilingual Employee Support & Service
- First Point of Contact: Serve as an approachable, in-person resource for the 100-plus employees at the Milwaukee office and a responsive contact by phone and email for team members across multiple states.
- Shared Inbox & Workflow: Monitor the HR inbox and request workflow, responding promptly and professionally and routing items that fall outside your scope.
- Spanish-Language Support: Communicate with and support a majority Spanish-speaking hourly workforce, translating routine materials and helping employees navigate processes and systems.
- Employee Guidance: Answer day-to-day questions on policies, systems, and processes, providing clear guidance and escalating more complex matters appropriately.
Onboarding & Compliance Administration
- New-Hire Onboarding: Coordinate offer letters, I-9 and E-Verify, document and ID collection, and system setup so new team members start smoothly and on time.
- Records & Documentation: Maintain accurate, confidential employee records and files, updating the HR system promptly as information changes.
- Leave & Compliance Support: Serve as a first-line resource for leave, FMLA, and workers'-compensation packets, distributing materials and responding to initial employee questions.
- Offboarding Logistics: Support the administrative side of departures, processing terminations in the system and issuing standard offboarding documentation.
HR Systems Support & Data Integrity
- Tier-1 Troubleshooting: Resolve everyday HR system issues such as password resets, login problems, and navigation questions for employees across all locations.
- Record & Life-Event Changes: Process and validate employee change requests, including address, tax-form, supervisor, and life-event updates, ensuring each is entered correctly.
- Data Support: Ensure accurate, complete data (offer components, stipends, referral tracking, and PTO) reaches the teams that rely on it, with no gaps or errors.
- System Adoption: Help employees who are less comfortable with technology use the HR system confidently, providing patient, step-by-step support.
Collaboration, Projects & Growth
- Team Partnership: Work side by side with the HR generalist and recruiter, taking direction from the Director of Human Resources and lending support wherever the team needs lift.
- Off-Season Projects: Contribute to process-improvement and infrastructure work during slower months, such as refining onboarding, developing training materials, and supporting company events.
- Acquisition Support: Help absorb the added activity that comes with a growing, acquisitive platform, staying flexible as new locations join the organization.
- Ad Hoc Readiness: Take on new tasks as they arise with a ready-for-anything attitude, following through to completion.
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree required; bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent practical experience.
- Typically 1 – 3 years of experience in human resources, recruiting coordination, or administrative support; relevant internship experience is welcome.
- Fluency in both English and Spanish, written and verbal, is required.
- Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills, with the judgment to go beyond routine data entry and to know when to escalate.
- Excellent organization, attention to detail, and follow-through in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Comfort providing high-touch, high-volume support by phone, email, and in person.
- Familiarity with an HRIS or applicant tracking system; experience with Workforce Go or UKG is a plus but not required.
- Solid computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and common productivity tools.
- Discretion and sound judgment in handling confidential employee information.
- A service-minded, empathetic approach to supporting employees and candidates.
- Willingness to work on-site four days per week at the Milwaukee office, with an on-site-first mindset.
- Comfort working in a blue-collar, field-services environment; a background in manufacturing, business services, or field services is a plus, while roofing or construction experience is not required.
- A coachable, growth-oriented attitude and genuine interest in converting to a permanent role over time.
- Availability to begin promptly on a contract basis.
