911 Telecommunicator-Full time
LOCATION: Murphy, NC
HOURLY WAGE: $18.37 per hour (eligible for insurance and retirement), $19.10 per hour if certified

DESCRIPTION:
Receives and prioritizes E-911 and non-emergency telephone calls from the public. Processes incoming information while simultaneously performing dispatch functions for Law Enforcement, Fire, Rescue and EMS by means of a computer aided dispatch system (CAD) and operates and monitors multiple radio channels. Works 12 hour shifts during day or night, weekends, and holidays and must be available to work extended shifts and be subject to emergency callout(s). Dispatches appropriate emergency service agencies such as police, fire and emergency medical units. Monitors public safety units in the field. Retrieves and enters computer data for emergency response personnel within the service area. Performs other related duties as required
AGE, EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
18 years of age or older
High School diploma or equivalent
Prior relative experience with computer applications and multi-line phone systems
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess valid driver’s license.
Must be DCI/NCIC certified within 6 months of hire
Must obtain NC Telecommunicator State Certification within 1 year of hire
Must be able to pass specified EMD training and testing within 1 year of hire.
