Welder/Fabricator – Heavy Equipment & Mining ProductsOverview
Raptor Mining Products is looking for an experienced welder/fabricator who takes pride in building heavy-duty equipment that lasts. This is not an entry-level position. We manufacture and repair mining equipment, wear packages, buckets, structural components, and custom fabricated assemblies using abrasion-resistant and high-strength steels.
If you're looking to weld the same production part every day, this isn't the job for you. Every project is different, and we're looking for someone who can think through a fabrication, hold tight tolerances, and produce quality work without being babysat.
Requirements
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of professional welding/fabrication experience in heavy equipment, mining, industrial, structural, or similar industries.
- Demonstrated experience welding A36, A514, and A572 structural steels.
- Demonstrated experience welding AR400, AR450, AR500, and Chromium Carbide Overlay (CCO) plate.
- Highly proficient with FCAW (Dual Shield) and GMAW (MIG) welding processes. TIG experience is a plus.
- Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings, weld symbols, blueprints, and assembly drawings without assistance.
- Experience fitting, fabricating, and assembling large structural weldments.
- Ability to accurately measure using tape measures, squares, levels, calipers, and other precision measuring tools.
- Experience operating fabrication equipment including plasma tables, oxy-fuel torches, grinders, ironworkers, drill presses, and press brakes.
- Ability to safely operate overhead cranes and forklifts or willingness to become certified.
- Must understand weld sequencing, distortion control, and proper fit-up techniques.
- Ability to lift 75 lbs., work on your feet throughout the day, and work in a physically demanding shop environment.
- Must pass a hands-on weld test and fabrication assessment before hire.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building mining equipment, loader buckets, truck beds, chutes, hoppers, crushers, conveyors, or other heavy industrial equipment.
- Familiarity with hardfacing, wear products, and abrasion-resistant applications.
- Experience with air arc gouging and weld repairs.
- AWS certifications are a plus but are not required if experience can be demonstrated.
Responsibilities
- Fabricate and weld heavy structural assemblies from engineering drawings.
- Fit and weld components while maintaining dimensional accuracy and quality standards.
- Perform FCAW and MIG welding on structural and wear-resistant materials.
- Repair and rebuild mining equipment and wear components.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Work closely with engineering and production teams to ensure projects are completed on schedule.
- Inspect completed welds and assemblies to ensure they meet Raptor quality standards.
What We're Looking For
We want experienced craftsmen who care about the quality of their work. The right person takes ownership, shows up every day ready to work, doesn't cut corners, and doesn't need someone standing over their shoulder.
If you have experience building heavy equipment, understand structural fabrication, and know how to weld abrasion-resistant steels correctly, we'd like to talk to you.
