Full Job Description

Basic Function

Under the direction of the Director of Student Wellness, develops, implements, coordinates, and evaluates campus-wide health promotion, prevention, outreach, and student engagement initiatives that promote student well-being, resilience, help-seeking behaviors, health literacy, and academic success. The Health Promotion & Education Coordinator develops strategic partnerships, leads student wellness campaigns and events, coordinates peer wellness initiatives, and uses data and emerging trends to inform prevention programming and outreach strategies.

Representative Duties

Develop, implement, and evaluate campus-wide health promotion and prevention campaigns addressing mental health, physical health, suicide prevention, stress management, resilience, healthy relationships, and other student wellness priorities.
Develop and disseminate accessible, culturally responsive, and evidence-informed educational materials and resources promoting student health and well-being.
Design, coordinate, and facilitate workshops, presentations, trainings, wellness activities, and educational programs for students, faculty, and staff.
Develop, coordinate, and evaluate the Student Health Center’s peer education program, including recruitment, training, supervision, and program assessment with the support of the Director of Student Wellness.
Coordinate health and wellness awareness events, outreach activities, wellness fairs, tabling opportunities, and prevention initiatives throughout the academic year.
Develop and maintain an annual outreach calendar aligned with departmental priorities, student needs, and relevant national health and wellness observances.
Develop outreach strategies to increase student awareness, utilization, and understanding of Student Health Center services.
Collaborate with instructional and student services departments, student organizations, and campus partners to integrate health promotion and prevention initiatives into the student experience.
Use participation data, student feedback, surveys, and other established measures to evaluate outreach and prevention efforts, identify areas for improvement, and inform future programming.
Identify emerging student health and wellness trends, needs, and barriers to accessing services and recommend responsive prevention and outreach strategies.
Foster and maintain partnerships with campus departments that strengthen referral pathways and improve access to services.
Support digital and social media outreach efforts, including development of educational content and promotional materials, in alignment with departmental guidelines.
Support suicide prevention, mental health awareness, and other campus-wide mental health initiatives in collaboration with the Student Health Center’s counseling staff and campus partners.
Assist with identifying grant opportunities and preparing grant applications, proposals, budgets, progress reports, and other required documentation related to health promotion and prevention initiatives.
Assist with implementation, monitoring, and reporting requirements for grant-funded programs and initiatives.
Participate in program evaluation, continuous improvement, departmental meetings, training, and professional development.
Represent the Student Health Center at campus meetings, committees, community events, and professional activities related to student health and wellness.
Respond to telephone inquiries, screen and direct calls, coordinate appointments, welcome and process patients, and provide information to departments, personnel, students, and the public by phone and in person.
Address inquiries, answer questions, and resolve issues requiring judgment, knowledge of policies, and effective communication; assist patients with completing required forms and documentation for services.
Assist with developing and coordinating mental health counselor schedules, including appointment scheduling and related administrative support.
Assist with the electronic medical record software system, enter data, generate reports, perform upload/download of student data
Schedule and coordinate departmental meetings; prepare agendas, minutes, and related documents; and distribute materials to appropriate personnel.
Assist patients in accurately completing appropriate forms and documents for services.
Inspect documents, forms, and records for accuracy and completeness; process a variety of forms and documents according to established procedures; ensure conformance to established guidelines and standards.
Receive, sort, and distribute incoming mail and materials; prepare outgoing mail and packages; and support daily administrative operations to ensure efficient departmental workflow.
Track departmental expenditures and monitor budget status; prepare requisitions for supplies, equipment, conference travel, and other purchases as directed.
Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Public Health, or a closely related field.
Two years of experience in health promotion, prevention programming, student support, community engagement, or related work.
Experience coordinating and leading events, awareness campaigns, and other student wellness initiatives.
Experience developing educational materials, presentations, or other health promotion resources.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, and educational backgrounds.
Strong organizational, communication, facilitation, and problem-solving skills.

Desired Qualifications

Experience working in a community college or higher education setting.
Experience with peer education, peer wellness, student ambassador, or student leadership programs.
Experience with grant writing, grant administration, or grant-funded programming.
Experience coordinating suicide prevention, mental health promotion, or other public health initiatives.
Experience developing digital, social media, or multimedia health promotion content.
Bilingual proficiency.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of current student wellness trends, barriers to accessing services, and evidence-informed prevention strategies.
Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, presentation, and facilitation skills.
Ability to develop engaging, accessible, and culturally responsive educational materials and programming.
Commitment to equity, inclusion, cultural humility, and student-centered service.
Ability to build and sustain effective partnerships with campus departments and community organizations.
Ability to coordinate events, projects, campaigns, and multiple competing priorities with accuracy, attention to detail, and sound judgment.
Ability to exercise discretion and maintain appropriate confidentiality when working with student information and health-related programs.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
