Payroll Clerk

Pay: $22.00–$30.00/hour DOE
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–4:00 PM
Additional Schedule Requirement: One mandatory Saturday per month
Employment Type: Full-Time

About the Role

We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Payroll Clerk to join a fast-paced team in Oceanside.In this role, the Payroll Clerk will support day-to-day payroll functions, including reviewing employee timecards, entering payroll data, processing employee changes, researching payroll discrepancies, maintaining accurate records, and assisting with payroll reporting and reconciliation.The ideal candidate is comfortable working with numbers and large amounts of data, has strong attention to detail, and is able to meet strict payroll deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

Review employee timecards and timesheets for accuracy, missing punches, overtime, and discrepancies
Enter and update payroll information accurately and within required deadlines
Assist with processing weekly, bi-weekly, or semi-monthly payroll
Process employee changes including new hires, terminations, wage changes, deductions, and direct deposit information
Review and process payroll adjustments, reimbursements, bonuses, commissions, and other earnings
Research and resolve payroll discrepancies
Respond to employee questions regarding paychecks, hours, deductions, taxes, and timekeeping
Assist with payroll reconciliations and verify payroll information before processing
Maintain accurate and confidential employee and payroll records
Assist with garnishments, deductions, and payroll-related documentation
Support payroll audits and reporting as needed
Assist with year-end payroll processes and W-2 documentation
Partner with HR and Accounting to resolve payroll-related questions or discrepancies
Meet strict payroll processing deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Provide additional payroll and administrative support as needed

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required
Previous experience in payroll, accounting, bookkeeping, HR, timekeeping, or administrative data entry REQUIRED
Strong numerical and data-entry skills with excellent attention to detail
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Ability to identify discrepancies and follow through until they are resolved
Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling employee and compensation information
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines
Must be available to work one Saturday per month

REQUIRED Experience

Payroll processing or payroll support
Experience with ADP, Paylocity, UKG, Paycom, or a similar payroll system
California payroll and wage-and-hour knowledge
Timecard and timesheet auditing
Payroll deductions and garnishments
Payroll reconciliation
Multi-state payroll
High-volume payroll or employee data processing
Accounting or bookkeeping experience
Financial services industry experience

Pay: $22.00 - $30.00 per hour
