Full Job Description

Job Summary

Operates hand-welding or flame-cutting equipment to weld or join metal components or to fill holes, indentations, or seams of fabricated metal products.

General Accountabilities

Welds components in flat or vertical positions.
Clamps, holds, tack-welds, heat-bends, grinds or bolts component parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding.
Detects faulty operation of equipment or defective materials and notifies supervisors.
Operates manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments, using processes such as gas tungsten arc, gas metal arc.
Monitors the fitting, burning, and welding processes to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of material.
Examines work pieces for defects and measures them with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications.
Recognizes, sets up, and operates hand and power tools common to the welding trade, such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment.
Lays out, positions, aligns, and secures parts and assemblies prior to assembly, using straightedges, combination squares, calipers, and rulers.
Keep work area clean and organized.
Follow all company rules and policies.
Follow all safety rules and quality standards.

Job Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Experience: Desire to work in a manufacturing environment

Graduation from formal training program
Ability to read, comprehend and follow verbal and written instructions
Ability to meet deadlines, concentrate and pay attention to detail
Strong safety orientation
Sitting and Standing for long periods
Strong desire for long term employment with opportunity to grow
Ability to multitask and prioritize in an effective way.
Ability to work unsupervised or with minimal supervision while meeting all product quality requirements.

Candidate has to be reliable

Skill Requirements

Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
Reading comprehension
Ability to use Precision Hand measuring devices such as calipers
Ability to read a tape measure and ruler
Ability to interpret blueprints and general knowledge of tolerances
Must be able to lift up to 60lbs.
