Full Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Account Clerk to join our finance team. In this vital role, you will manage a variety of accounting functions, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in financial record-keeping. Your expertise will support the organization’s financial operations, including data entry, account reconciliation, and processing transactions. This position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in corporate and governmental accounting while working with advanced financial software and systems. The ideal candidate is energetic, highly organized, and committed to maintaining confidentiality and precision in all tasks.

Duties

Perform data entry for accounts payable and receivable transactions using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or Workday
Reconcile general ledger accounts and prepare balance sheet reconciliations with attention to detail
Process journal entries accurately following GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) compliance standards
Manage accounts receivable collections and monitor aging reports to ensure timely payments
Handle accounts payable processing, including invoice verification and vendor payments through systems like Paychex or ADP
Assist with payroll management tasks using Kronos or UltiPro, ensuring accurate employee compensation records
Support month-end closing activities by performing account analysis and preparing financial reports for review
Maintain confidential financial information with integrity while ensuring compliance with organizational policies

Skills

Strong knowledge of accounting principles such as GAAP and governmental accounting standards
Experience with financial software including QuickBooks or similar systems
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel for data analysis and spreadsheet management
Excellent numeracy skills with the ability to perform 10-key typing quickly and accurately
Familiarity with technical accounting concepts such as double-entry bookkeeping, journal entries, debits & credits, and general ledger reconciliation
Ability to handle sensitive information discreetly while maintaining high levels of accuracy in data entry and account reconciliation
Strong organizational skills with the capacity to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment
Customer service orientation to assist internal teams or vendors with inquiries related to accounts or payments
