Job Overview
Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Pharmacist, where your expertise will directly impact patient outcomes and safety. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive pharmaceutical care within a fast-paced hospital environment, ensuring accurate medication dispensing, patient assessment, and medication therapy management. Your clinical knowledge and dedication will support multidisciplinary teams across various units, including critical care, pediatrics, trauma centers, and emergency services. This position offers an exciting opportunity to apply your specialized skills in managed care, acute pain management, and pharmacy residency training to enhance patient care quality and safety.

Responsibilities

Dispense medications accurately in accordance with physicians’ prescriptions and hospital protocols, ensuring proper medication administration and aseptic techniques.
Conduct thorough patient assessments to determine appropriate medication therapy, considering physiology, anatomy, and medical history.
Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and adjust medication plans for diverse patient populations, including ICU patients, pediatric cases, and trauma victims.
Manage IV infusions and sterile compounding processes with precision to maintain safety standards.
Monitor patient responses to medications, especially in critical care settings such as Level I Trauma Centers or PICU units, adjusting therapies as needed for optimal outcomes.
Provide expert consultation on pharmacology topics like pain management, acute care strategies, emergency room protocols, and medication interactions.
Educate patients on medication use, potential side effects, and adherence strategies to promote effective patient service and care.
Maintain detailed documentation of medication administration records and ensure compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
Stay current with advances in clinical pharmacy practices by participating in ongoing education and residency programs.
Support hospital initiatives related to managed care programs and ensure adherence to best practices in pharmacy operations.

Qualifications

Valid pharmacist license with current registration in the relevant jurisdiction.
Extensive hospital experience with a focus on critical care environments such as ICU or Level II trauma centers.
Proven expertise in pharmacy residency programs or post-residency experience emphasizing clinical pharmacy practice.
Demonstrated knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and aseptic techniques essential for sterile compounding and IV infusion preparation.
Strong background in managing acute pain cases and pain management protocols within hospital settings.
Experience working in high-pressure environments like emergency rooms or trauma centers is highly preferred.
Familiarity with managed care principles and hospital medicine practices to optimize medication therapy outcomes.
Excellent patient service skills with a compassionate approach to patient care across diverse populations including pediatrics and critically ill patients.
Ability to perform comprehensive patient assessments involving medication administration, patient evaluation, and response monitoring.
