Full Job Description

The Activity Assistant/Resident Support Aide plays an essential role in enhancing the quality of life for elderly residents by planning and leading recreational, therapeutic, and social programs while also assisting with personal care needs. This position combines creativity, compassion, and hands-on caregiving to support residents’ physical, emotional, cognitive and social well-being in a safe and nurturing environment.

Activity programming & Engagement:

Assist the Activity Director in developing, organizing, and implementing a variety of meaningful activities tailored to residents’ interest, abilities, and care plan.

Lead or co-lead group and one-on-one activities such as arts and crafts, exercise sessions, music therapy, games, spiritual services, reminiscence groups, and special events.

Motivate and encourage residents to participate in daily programs, adapt activities to accommodate physical limitations, cognitive changes, and/or emotional needs.

Encourage resident participation and adapt activities to meet individual needs and abilities. Including one on one activities.

Maintain accurate attendance and participation records for activity programs and complete all required charting and documenting.

Assist with setup, clean up, and organization of activity spaces and materials.

Assist Activity Director in creating a monthly calendar of activities written in large print and posted in a prominent location that is visible to residents and visitors. Also post a copy of the calendar in each resident room.

Direct Care / Resident Support

Provide direct care assistance with activities of daily living, (ADL’s) including dressing, grooming, toileting, feeding and mobility support in accordance with residents' care plan.

Escort residents to and from activities, appointments, or dining areas safely and respectfully.

Observe residents’ physical and emotional condition, reporting changes to Clinical staff or Supervisory staff.

Support a positive, person-centered environment that promotes dignity, independence, and engagement.

Communicate effectively with team members, residents and families to ensure consistent, person-centered care.
