Job Overview
The Purchasing Coordinator is responsible for supporting all procurement activities related to CAN Global's rig shop operations and projects. This role manages the purchasing process from requisition through purchase order issuance, monitors supplier performance and repair/service status, and collaborates with internal departments to ensure materials and services are delivered on time and meet quality requirements. The position also supports the Quality Management System through non-conformance reporting, corrective action tracking, and supplier quality improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
Procurement & Purchasing
- Source and procure materials, equipment, components, and services required for all rig shop projects.
- Generate, issue, and maintain purchase orders in accordance with company purchasing procedures.
- Obtain and evaluate supplier quotations to ensure competitive pricing, quality, and delivery.
- Coordinate with project managers, shop supervisors, and operations personnel to identify purchasing requirements and priorities.
- Maintain accurate purchasing records, supplier files, and procurement documentation.
- Track open purchase orders and proactively communicate delivery status and potential delays.
Vendor & Repair Service Management
- Coordinate and monitor all third-party repairs, inspections, certifications, and service work related to rig shop equipment and components.
- Follow up with vendors to ensure repairs and services are completed according to schedule and specifications.
- Maintain status reports on equipment undergoing repair or service and provide updates to internal stakeholders.
- Assist in evaluating supplier performance regarding quality, delivery, responsiveness, and cost effectiveness.
- Support supplier qualification and continuous improvement initiatives.
Quality Support
- Assist with quality-related issues involving purchased materials, outsourced services, and supplier performance.
- Initiate and manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) related to supplier-provided products and services.
- Support corrective and preventive action (CAPA) processes by coordinating investigations, documenting findings, and tracking closure of action items.
- Work closely with Quality, Operations, and suppliers to resolve product and service quality concerns.
- Maintain records required for audits, inspections, and quality management system compliance.
Administrative & Reporting
- Maintain procurement and supplier databases within company systems.
- Prepare purchasing, supplier performance, and repair status reports as requested by management.
- Assist with inventory reconciliation and material tracking activities as needed.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, customer requirements, and applicable industry standards.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Purchasing, Operations, or related field preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
Experience
- Minimum 3 years of purchasing, procurement, supply chain, or related operational experience.
- Experience supporting manufacturing, oilfield equipment, rig repair, or industrial service operations preferred.
- Experience with purchase order management and supplier coordination required.
- Familiarity with quality systems, non-conformance reporting, and corrective action processes preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong understanding of purchasing and procurement processes.
- Excellent organizational and follow-up skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong communication and vendor relationship management abilities.
- Ability to analyze supplier performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Proficiency with ERP systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and purchasing software.
- Detail-oriented with strong documentation and recordkeeping skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multiple departments.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in an office and industrial shop environment.
- Occasional visits to the rig shop, warehouse, and vendor locations may be required.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.

Reports to: Operations Manager / Rig Shop Manager

Pay: $55,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
