Job Summary

Aperitivo Gelato & Café is looking for an experienced, dependable Kitchen Manager to lead our kitchen team and help us consistently deliver excellent food and genuine hospitality.

Aperitivo means “to open up.” We created our café to give people a place to slow down, connect, and enjoy the moments that matter. Everything we serve—from breakfast and brunch to sandwiches, small plates, focaccia, and seasonal specials—should reflect the same care and intentionality we bring to our guests.

This is a hands-on leadership position. Our Kitchen Manager will work alongside the team during service while also providing the structure, preparation, accountability, and follow-through required to operate an excellent kitchen.

Responsibilities

Lead and support the kitchen team during preparation and service
Maintain consistency in taste, presentation, portion size, and execution
Ensure every dish meets Aperitivo’s quality standards before leaving the kitchen
Train, coach, schedule, and develop kitchen employees
Establish clear expectations and hold the team accountable
Maintain an organized, clean, and efficient kitchen
Oversee ordering, inventory, product rotation, and proper food storage
Monitor food costs, portions, waste, and overall kitchen productivity
Ensure prep lists and opening and closing responsibilities are completed
Maintain compliance with health department, sanitation, and food-safety requirements
Communicate product needs, equipment issues, and operational concerns promptly
Collaborate with ownership and management on menu development, seasonal specials, brunch, catering, and special events
Remain calm, engaged, and solution-oriented during busy services
Be willing to step into any kitchen position when the team needs support

Qualifications

At least two years of professional kitchen experience
Previous kitchen leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred
Strong knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, inventory, and kitchen operations
Ability to lead with both high standards and respect
Excellent organization, communication, and time-management skills
Dependable, proactive, and committed to following through
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
Available to work mornings, evenings, weekends, brunches, and special events as needed
Food Manager Certification preferred or willingness to obtain it
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
