About the Position
Fabriquick is looking for a Junior Quality Engineer / Metrology Engineer to join our precision manufacturing team.
We are specifically looking for a recent Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering graduate, or a junior engineer with approximately 0–3 years of experience, who wants to develop a career in quality engineering, metrology, and precision manufacturing.
This is a hands-on engineering position in a manufacturing environment. It is not a mechanical product-design or CAD-focused position.
Prior professional quality or CMM experience is not required. We are willing to train a strong engineering candidate who has the aptitude, attention to detail, and genuine interest in this field.
What You Will Learn
Your initial focus will be dimensional inspection and metrology. You will be trained to operate and program CMM and optical measurement equipment and will learn how to inspect precision manufactured components against engineering drawings, CAD models, GD&T, and customer requirements.
As you become proficient, your responsibilities will expand into broader quality engineering.
You will progressively learn and work with:
- CMM operation and programming
- Dimensional inspection and metrology
- GD&T and engineering drawing interpretation
- Calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other precision measurement equipment
- Optical measurement systems
- Inspection planning and reporting
- First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs)
- AS9102 requirements
- Nonconforming material and NCRs
- Root-cause analysis
- Corrective and preventive actions
- Manufacturing process improvement
- Calibration systems
- Customer and supplier quality requirements
- AS9100 and ISO 9001 quality systems
- Internal and external quality audits
Because we are a manufacturing company, you will also gain significant exposure to how parts are actually made, including CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, laser cutting, bending, welding, finishing, and other manufacturing processes.
What You Will Do
Initially, your responsibilities will include:
- Inspect precision manufactured components against engineering drawings and specifications.
- Learn to operate and program CMM and optical inspection equipment.
- Perform incoming, in-process, and final dimensional inspections.
- Interpret engineering drawings, dimensions, tolerances, and GD&T.
- Prepare dimensional inspection reports and FAIR documentation.
- Identify dimensional and manufacturing discrepancies.
- Work directly with manufacturing personnel to understand and resolve quality problems.
- Document inspection results accurately and consistently.
- Learn our AS9100 / ISO 9001 quality management system.
As your technical ability develops, you will take increasing ownership of quality engineering activities, including nonconformances, root-cause investigations, corrective actions, inspection planning, process improvement, audits, customer quality requirements, and quality-system management.

Quality Engineering & Leadership
Develop from Junior Quality Engineer → Quality Engineer → Senior Quality Engineer → Quality Manager / Head of Quality.
This path can eventually include responsibility for our quality management system, audits, corrective actions, customer quality requirements, inspection operations, and future quality personnel.
Metrology & CMM Specialization
Develop into an advanced CMM Programmer / Metrology Engineer and eventually become our Metrology Lead.
This path focuses on advanced CMM programming, GD&T, dimensional metrology, complex inspection strategies, measurement systems, and inspection automation.
You do not need to choose between these paths when you join us. Your interests and demonstrated strengths will help determine how the position develops.
Who We Are Looking For
We care more about engineering aptitude, hands-on ability, attention to detail, curiosity, and genuine interest in manufacturing and quality than years of experience.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline, or currently completing such a degree.
- Ability to read mechanical engineering drawings.
- Basic understanding of dimensions and tolerances.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Interest in understanding how manufactured parts are made and measured.
- Comfortable working directly with physical parts and manufacturing personnel.
- Desire to develop expertise in quality engineering, metrology, or manufacturing quality.
- Ability to work full-time on-site at our Benicia, CA facility.
Preferred but NOT Required
Any of the following are valuable, but we do not expect an entry-level candidate to have all of them:
- CMM experience

- AS9100, ISO 9001, or AS9102 familiarity
Strong university, club, internship, and personal projects absolutely count as hands-on experience.

If you enjoy precision, measurement, manufacturing, troubleshooting, and understanding why physical parts do or do not meet engineering requirements, you may find this work extremely rewarding.
If your primary long-term career goal is mechanical product design or spending most of your time designing products in CAD, this position is probably not the right fit.
Compensation and Advancement
Starting salary: $75,000 per year.
We will conduct a formal performance and compensation review after approximately six months.
Future compensation and advancement will be based on demonstrated technical proficiency, ability to work independently, quality of work, CMM/metrology proficiency, and increasing ownership of quality engineering responsibilities.
We are looking for someone interested in developing into a highly capable engineer and taking significant long-term responsibility within Fabriquick.
