Job Summary
The Senior Manager, Supply Chain is a critical leadership hire responsible for building a best-in-class supply chain function for The Olive Oil Factory (TOOF). This role owns the end-to-end Supply Chain ecosystem – from demand forecasting through supply execution, inventory optimization, and logistics coordination – while serving as the primary client-facing escalation point for S&OP-related topics.
This leader will inherit existing processes and is expected to assess, overhaul, and automate planning workflows using the company’s current ERP system. They will directly manage the Sourcing Manager, Supply and Demand Planner, and Logistics Lead/Manager, and will be accountable for cross-functional performance metrics, SLA adherence, and cost of goods visibility across supply chain operations.
Supply & Demand Planning – Process Overhaul & Automation
- Lead a structured assessment of current demand and supply planning processes, identifying gaps, manual workarounds, and automation opportunities.
- Design and implement a modernized S&OP cycle tailored to the manufacturing cadence of oils, sauces, and drinks, including SKU-level forecasting models.
- Own and drive ERP optimization initiatives – configure, automate, and standardize planning workflows (MPS, MRP, replenishment logic) within the existing ERP platform.
- Establish rolling demand forecasts (4–13 weeks) informed by sales trends, promotional calendars, customer orders, and seasonal patterns.
- Define and monitor forecast accuracy, bias, and fill rate KPIs; build feedback loops with Sales and Production to continuously improve.
- Partner with Finance to ensure supply plans map to cost and margin targets; surface risk scenarios proactively.
Client-Facing S&OP Escalation & Contract Management
- Serve as the senior point of contact for customer and partner escalations related to supply availability, order fulfillment, and planning commitments.
- Maintain working knowledge of all active customer and supplier contracts, ensuring planning decisions are aligned with contractual obligations.
- Track SLA performance across all relevant supply chain commitments (lead times, fill rates, on-time delivery, MOQ adherence); escalate gaps to leadership with root cause analysis and corrective action plans.
- Communicate proactively with client stakeholders regarding inventory risks, delays, or supply disruptions – providing data-driven updates and resolution timelines.
- Represent Operations in business reviews, customer QBRs, and cross-functional planning forums.
Inventory Management Oversight
- Oversee the Supply and Demand Planner in maintaining optimal stock levels across raw materials, WIP, and finished goods for all product lines (oils, sauces, drinks).
- Establish and govern inventory targets, safety stock policies, and reorder logic by SKU and category.
- Drive reduction in slow-moving, excess, and obsolete inventory; identify working capital improvement opportunities.
- Ensure inventory data integrity within the ERP; lead cycle count programs and reconciliation processes.
Sourcing Management Oversight
- Manage and develop the Sourcing Manager, ensuring a strategic approach to supplier selection, relationship management, and cost optimization.
- Oversee contract negotiations and renewals for key raw material suppliers (olives, packaging, ingredients); ensure adherence to COGS targets.
- Support the Sourcing Manager in building a diversified and resilient supplier base that reduces single-source risk.
- Review and approve sourcing decisions that have material impact on cost, quality, or supply continuity.
- Ensure team manages suppliers based on internal supplier qualification standards and quality policies
Logistics Oversight
- Supervise the Logistics Lead/Manager to ensure inbound and outbound transportation is coordinated, cost-effective, and reliably timed to support production schedules and customer delivery commitments.
- Monitor 3PL and carrier performance; escalate and resolve service failures.
- Ensure logistics planning is integrated with the production schedule – inbound raw materials arrive in time for scheduled runs; outbound shipments align with customer orders.
- Review freight cost trends and identify optimization opportunities across lanes and modes.
Cross-Functional & Executive Collaboration
- Act as the bridge between Plant Operations, Sales, Finance, and Production – translating business priorities into actionable supply chain plans.
- Deliver regular executive-level reporting on supply chain health, including inventory positions, fulfillment performance, cost variances, and risk outlook.
- Lead monthly S&OP review meetings with leadership; present scenarios, risks, and recommendations clearly.
- Support new product introduction (NPI) planning by coordinating sourcing, supply build, and logistics lead times.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, or a related field; APICS CPIM or CSCP preferred.
