Full Job Description

PCG Consulting International partners with healthcare organizations to solve complex operational, technology, and business challenges that improve financial performance and patient care. We've partnered with St. Anthony Hospital and is seeking an experienced Meditech Expanse Report Writer-SQL BI Developer to transform complex healthcare data into reliable, understandable, and actionable information.

This is a hands-on technical reporting position for someone who understands both healthcare data and how hospital leaders, clinicians, and operational teams use information to make decisions.

The successful candidate will work extensively with MEDITECH Expanse data, SQL-based reporting technologies, enterprise reporting tools, and hospital stakeholders to develop scalable reporting solutions, improve reporting performance, and promote consistent business and clinical metrics across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Develop, test, maintain, and optimize enterprise clinical, financial, and operational reports.
Develop stored procedures, datasets, and reports based on business and clinical requirements.
Build and maintain reporting solutions using MEDITECH Expanse data.
Work with MEDITECH reporting technologies including MAT/NPR and Business & Clinical Analytics (BCA), as applicable.
Write advanced SQL queries utilizing:
Complex joins
Subqueries
Common Table Expressions (CTEs)
Window functions
Aggregations
Parameterized queries
Performance-aware query techniques
Develop operational and paginated reports using SQL Server reporting technologies such as SSRS and Power BI Report Builder.
Build and maintain data sources, datasets, report parameters, stored procedures, and views.
Develop reusable, business-friendly reporting datasets and semantic layers.
Work with curated reporting tables and standardized reporting structures.
Help establish and maintain consistent calculations, metrics, and business definitions across enterprise reports.
Design dashboards and visualizations that translate complex healthcare data into actionable information.
Develop reporting solutions for operational users as well as self-service analytics.
Build filters, slicers, parameters, and other tools that allow users to explore information efficiently.
Troubleshoot inefficient report queries and identify opportunities to improve performance.
Apply query-tuning and indexing concepts when appropriate.
Understand how ETL, data refreshes, and processing strategies affect reporting availability and performance.
Document database structures, data sources, calculations, business rules, metrics, and report definitions.
Partner directly with hospital leaders, clinicians, and business users to understand reporting and analytics requirements.
Serve as a reporting subject-matter resource and contribute to broader data-management and analytics initiatives.

Required Qualifications

Hands-on MEDITECH Expanse database and/or reporting experience.
MEDITECH MAT/NPR and/or related MEDITECH reporting experience.
Strong SQL skills, including complex query development.
Healthcare reporting, analytics, or business intelligence experience.
Experience developing stored procedures and production-level reports.
Understanding of relational data modeling.
Experience working with views, stored procedures, datasets, and reporting tables.
Ability to translate business and clinical questions into practical reporting and analytics solutions.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to non-technical stakeholders.
Ability to manage multiple reporting requests and projects simultaneously.

Reporting & Data Design Experience

The successful candidate should understand how to:

Build reusable reporting datasets rather than repeatedly creating one-off queries.
Standardize calculations and metric definitions to prevent inconsistent reporting or "metric drift."
Structure data for ad hoc exploration and self-service reporting.
Select appropriate visualizations based on the underlying business question.
Balance reporting complexity with usability and clarity.
Identify inefficient queries and improve reporting performance.
Create reporting solutions that can support clinical, financial, operational, and leadership decision-making.

Ideal Candidate

This position requires more than general report-building experience. The strongest candidate will bring hands-on MEDITECH healthcare reporting experience combined with advanced SQL capabilities and understand how hospital data moves from source systems into operational reports, dashboards, and analytics.

We are looking for someone who can work directly with hospital stakeholders, understand the question they are trying to answer, locate and structure the appropriate data, develop the solution, validate the results, and explain the information clearly.

Work Environment

Hospital environment in Chicago, Illinois. Specific onsite/hybrid scheduling expectations will be confirmed during the interview process.

Pay: $85,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
