Job Description

The Maintenance Manager oversees the maintenance operations, facilities, layout and machinery used to efficiently produce products with maximum output. This includes preventative maintenance and managing breakdowns of mechanical and electrical equipment with a strong background in industrial maintenance and facilities management. The Maintenance Manager will also manage maintenance teams and Set-up techs and ensure the optimal performance of all equipment and systems. This role is crucial for maintaining a safe efficient, and productive work environment in a chemical filling manufacturing facility with minimal down time.

Quality Specific Responsibility

Ensure all operations are conducted in compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and company quality standards. All Hydrox Laboratories Supervisors and Managers are responsible for understanding, implementing, updating and maintaining adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), ensuring employees follow approved procedures, and promptly addressing or reporting any deviations from established quality or regulatory requirements.

Every leader is accountable for maintaining a culture of quality and ensuring Hydrox standards consistently meet or exceed both internal expectations and customer requirements.

Duties & Responsibilities

· Plan, direct, and manage set up and maintenance operations for filling lines, tank equipment, pumps, mixers, conveyors, and associated production and facility systems.

· Assign and direct subordinates in day-to-day activities such as: machine set up/adjustment, change over, assigned project work and production floor coverage to ensure proper coverage.

· Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, pneumatic,, and instrumentation issues related to chemical processing and filling operations.

· Lead, train, and supervise set up techs and maintenance technicians, contractors, and vendors; assign work and evaluate performance.

· Develop and maintain preventive maintenance program for production machinery to ensure proper working order of equipment and to minimize future downtime.

· Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, calibration logs, and equipment histories.

· Collaborate with Production, Quality, and other teams to support production schedules and continuous improvement initiatives.

· Manage maintenance budgets, spare parts inventory, and vendor relationships.

· Ensure proper maintenance of tank systems, including inspections, cleaning, repairs, and compliance with chemical compatibility and safety standards.

· Promote and enforce a strong safety culture, including lockout/tagout, confined space, chemical handling procedures and Hot work permits

· Identify opportunities for equipment improvements, cost savings, and increased operational efficiency.

· Perform other supervisory tasks as required per the role: hiring, supervising, delegating, managing vendors, managing projects, evaluating staff, etc.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

· Strong working knowledge of filling lines, automated packaging equipment, tank systems, pumps, mixers, motors, valves, and conveyors.

· Working knowledge of CMMS systems for work orders, PM scheduling, spare parts, and documentation.

· Understanding of FDA/GMP requirements, OSHA regulations, and industrial safety practices (lockout/tagout, confined space, chemical handling).

· Strong analytical, technical problem-solving, and root cause identification skills

· Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a related technical field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.

· 5+ years of maintenance experience in a chemical, pharmaceutical, or regulated manufacturing environment.

· 3+ years of experience directing activities of others in a Manager or Supervisor role.

Working Condition

This position operates in a combination of office and manufacturing floor environments within a chemical filling facility. Office work includes administrative duties, planning, documentation, and meetings. Manufacturing floor work involves frequent presence around operating machinery, including filling lines, tank systems, pumps, conveyors, and auxiliary equipment. The role requires regular exposure to industrial conditions such as noise, moving mechanical parts, varying temperatures, and the handling of chemicals and liquids. Employees may be exposed to fumes, odors and airborne particles consistent with chemical manufacturing operations. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn while on the production floor. Physical demands may include standing, walking, climbing, bending, lifting moderate weight up to 50 lbs, and accessing elevated platforms or confined spaces to inspect, troubleshoot, or maintain equipment. The position may require extended hours, on-call availability, or off-shift work to support production schedules, maintenance shutdowns, or emergency repairs. All work must be performed in compliance with FDA/GMP requirements, OSHA regulations, and company safety policies, including lockout/tagout, chemical handling, and confined space procedures.
