Full Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Medical Billing Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of medical billing processes, coding procedures, buy and bill experience and healthcare claims management. As a Medical Billing Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely submission of claims, AR, denials, appeals, managing medical records, and maintaining excellent communication with insurance providers and patients. Your expertise will contribute to the efficient operation of our billing department and support the delivery of quality healthcare services.

Duties

Prepare and submit medical claims using billing software, ensuring compliance with coding standards such as CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) classifications.
Review and verify medical records for accuracy, completeness, and proper documentation to support billing and coding activities.
Manage accounts receivable by following up on unpaid or denied claims through medical collections efforts and appeals.
Utilize EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems to access patient information and update billing records efficiently.
Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure correct diagnosis coding, procedure coding, and adherence to insurance requirements.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of health insurance policies, healthcare claims management procedures, and regulatory changes affecting medical billing practices.
Generate detailed reports on billing activities, claim status, and outstanding balances using Microsoft Office tools for internal review and audits.
Provide exceptional customer service by addressing patient inquiries related to billing statements or insurance claims promptly and professionally.
Work on patient collections
Reconcile accounts, send out statements

Skills

Proficiency in medical coding including CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, ICD coding systems, and DRG classifications.
Strong understanding of healthcare claims management processes and medical billing procedures.
Experience with billing software platforms and eClinical works. (eCW)
Knowledge of health insurance policies, benefits verification, and medical collections practices.
Excellent attention to detail with the ability to accurately review medical records and documentation.
Effective communication skills for liaising with insurance companies, healthcare providers, and patients.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Excel for reporting purposes.
Prior experience with buy and bull/ infusion billing is highly desirable.
