Full Job Description

Make a Difference at Mending Hearts

Mending Hearts provides a safe, structured environment where women healing from addiction, trauma, homelessness, and co-occurring mental health disorders can find hope, community, and long-term recovery. We believe in the power of compassionate, evidence-based, and peer-supported treatment to transform lives.

As a Behavioral Health Technician on our Peer Support Housing team, you will play a vital role in maintaining a safe, recovery-oriented environment for women working toward stability and independent living. This position is ideal for individuals who are compassionate, dependable, and committed to supporting women in recovery during overnight hours.

Position Details

Location: West Campus
Program: Peer Support Housing
Status: Non-exempt (hourly)
Reports To: Peer Support Coordinator

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Conduct regular house checks throughout overnight hours to ensure resident safety, security, and compliance with program expectations.
Monitor campus cameras and promptly respond to any unusual activity, safety concerns, or policy violations.
Maintain accurate and timely logs of safety checks, incidents, and resident interactions in accordance with documentation standards.
Provide supportive, trauma-informed, and recovery-focused engagement with residents.
Promote accountability, structure, and peer support among residents, encouraging participation in treatment, employment, and recovery programs.
Communicate any behavioral, emotional, or safety concerns promptly to the Peer Housing Coordinator or on-call supervisor.
Assist with resident transportation needs as required, operating an F-endorsed vehicle in accordance with policy.
Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations and all facility policies.
Uphold professional boundaries while modeling empathy, consistency, and respect for residents’ recovery journeys.
Participate in shift handoffs, required meetings, and ongoing training.
Perform other related duties as assigned to support program safety and operations.

QualificationsMinimum Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required
Valid Tennessee Driver’s License with an F endorsement (required at the time of hire)
CPR certification (must be obtained within 90 days of hire; training provided)
Strong commitment to supporting women in recovery and promoting independence
Ability to remain calm and professional in high-stress or crisis situations
Effective observation, documentation, and communication skills
Basic understanding of addiction, recovery, and relapse prevention principles
Ability to maintain professional boundaries, confidentiality, and ethical conduct
Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently during overnight hours

Preferred Qualifications

Six months or more of experience in recovery housing, behavioral health, or peer support settings
Experience supporting women with addiction, trauma, and housing instability
Familiarity with trauma-informed and recovery-oriented models
Experience using electronic health or case management systems (e.g., Lightning Step)

Pay: $17.50 per hour
