Job Summary
We’re a small, lively bar right on Broadway in the heart of Nashville’s tourist hotspot. We’re looking for part-time friendly, professional Unarmed Security Guards who understand we are not bouncers — we are Ambassadors. Your job is to be present at the front door and throughout the venue, greet guests with a smile, invite people inside, and help drive attendance while keeping the vibe safe and welcoming. This is a customer-facing role focused on hospitality and positive guest experience in one of the busiest entertainment strips in the country.
Duties
Greet and invite potential patrons inside from the front door to boost attendance
- Check IDs for age verification and compliance with entry policies
- Maintain a safe, fun environment without aggressive enforcement
- Interact calmly and professionally with guests (including those who may be intoxicated)
- Assist management with basic security presence and crowd awareness
- Represent the bar with a positive, drama-free attitude at all times
Requirements
Tennessee State Unarmed Security Guard Registration (required):
You must already hold or be willing/able to obtain a valid Tennessee Unarmed Security Guard registration through the Tennessee Private Protective Services Board (Department of Commerce & Insurance). Current state requirements include:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Be a U.S. citizen or resident alien
- Be legally mentally competent and of good moral character (no disqualifying convictions — e.g., serious crimes, violence, firearms offenses, or shoplifting — in the past 5 years, with certain crimes like stalking requiring at least 5 years since completion of sentence/probation)
- Successfully complete a state-approved 4-hour basic training course (covering orientation, legal powers & limitations, emergency procedures, and general duties)
- Submit fingerprints (via Identogo), photo ID, head-and-shoulder photo, and application
- Pay the state registration fee (approximately $95 initial; biennial renewal ~$70)
- Note: You must be employed by a licensed Contract Security Company or Proprietary Security Organization to work legally in this role (we are set up to sponsor qualified candidates).

Additional Qualifications:
- Availability required: Nights and weekends (peak business hours — flexible shift lengths during busy times)
- Excellent demeanor and extremely high tolerance for dealing with drunk or difficult patrons who may be slow to comply
- Experience and knowledge in checking IDs accurately and efficiently
- Personable, outgoing, and genuinely friendly — you are the first face guests see
- Drama-free team player who gets along well with all staff
- Good clean professional appearance (we provide a company polo shirt — you supply black pants and comfortable shoes)
- Previous unarmed security or similar experience preferred; customer service, hospitality, retail security, or door experience will also be strongly considered
