Based in Nashville, TN, Ajax Consulting is a specialized consulting firm providing expert commercial property claim support across the Plains, Midwest, and Southeast. We work alongside commercial building owners, contractors, and insurance carriers to evaluate complex exterior property damage, with a strong focus on commercial roofing assemblies. Our mission is to combine technical accuracy, weather data, and forensic engineering principles to bring clarity and fair outcomes to the commercial insurance restoration process.

Position Summary

We are seeking an energetic, physically agile, and detail-oriented Commercial Building & Roofing Consultant to perform field-level forensic inspections, roof assessments, and scope evaluations across the country.

In this role, you will be on the front lines of site investigations—climbing ladders, inspecting commercial roof systems, documenting storm impact, and writing comprehensive technical reports. This role requires regular overnight travel during the workweek, delivering high-level forensic analysis for commercial policyholders and insurers.

Key Responsibilities

Forensic Field Inspections: Conduct detailed physical inspections of commercial roofing systems (e.g., TPO, EPDM, metal, built-up, modified bitumen) to determine structural damage, installation defects, and repair requirements.
Damage Assessment: Evaluate weather-related losses (hail, wind uplift, water intrusion) and write clear, objective forensic reports supported by photographic evidence.
Cost Estimation: Utilize estimating software (Xactimate) and industry cost data to build accurate scopes of repair and advocate for precise loss settlements.
Field Documentation: Document job sites accurately using core samples, moisture meters, high-resolution photography, and precise measurements in compliance with industry and legal standards.
Client Collaboration: Present technical findings clearly to property owners, contractors, insurance adjusters, and legal representatives.
Travel Operations: Travel to client sites across the region (1–3 nights per week, weekdays only).

Qualifications & Requirements

Professional Experience: 3+ years of experience in commercial roofing, commercial insurance adjusting, building consulting, or forensic meteorology.
Physical Capabilities: Must be comfortable with heights, physically fit, and able to navigate steep pitch/high-elevation commercial rooftops, climb tall ladders, carry equipment, and perform outdoor field work in varying weather conditions.
Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of commercial roofing components, storm damage patterns, and diagnostic methods (e.g., infrared thermography, moisture testing).
Software Skills: Proficiency with estimating platforms (Xactimate preferred) and reporting tools (Microsoft Office / Google Workspace).
Licensing & Travel: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and full willingness to travel overnight during weekdays.
Preferred Certifications: Haag Engineering (Roof Inspector), IIBEC (RRO/RWC), OSHA 30-Hour, NRCA, or FAA Part 107 Drone License a plus.
Education: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Meteorology, or equivalent hands-on industry experience.

Compensation & Benefits

Base Salary: $70,000 – $95,000 per year (commensurate with experience) plus performance bonuses.
Signing Bonus: $5,000 sign-on bonus, paid in full on your 2nd paycheck (subject to a 2-year clawback clause if voluntarily leaving the company).

Travel Coverage: 100% company-covered travel expenses including lodging, meals, flight, and mileage reimbursements.
