Full Job Description

Nebraska Methodist Health System is seeking a dedicated full-time RN for the day and night shift Float Pool position at Methodist Hospital. The Float Pool RN is accountable for the delivery of quality patient care across all medical-surgical level units based on staffing and patient care needs. This role floats to a variety of units including Surgical Short Stay, Oncology, Acute Care for Elders (ACE), Medical Surgical, Medical Observation, Ortho Neuro, and Acute Rehabilitation. The Float Pool RN may also float to Intermediate Care and ICU units to care for appropriate medical-surgical level patients.

**Night Shift has up to a $15,000 Sign-On Bonus***

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, identify individualized care needs, and incorporate patient and family input to support effective treatment and discharge planning.
Develop, implement, and continuously update individualized nursing care plans in collaboration with providers and interdisciplinary teams to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
Deliver safe, evidence-based nursing care by performing clinical interventions, following established protocols and standards of practice, providing patient education, and maintaining competency with equipment and procedures.
Monitor, evaluate, and document patient responses to treatment, communicate care needs through effective handoff reporting, and support patients and families in managing ongoing care needs.
Promote quality, safety, and operational excellence by identifying and mitigating risks, appropriately delegating care, maintaining professional relationships and work environments, participating in continuous improvement efforts, and ensuring responsible use of organizational resources.

Location:

Methodist Hospital, 8303 Dodge St. Omaha, NE

Schedule:

Day: 6:45am to 7:15pm, 24 or 36 hours available
Night: 6:45pm to 7:15am, 24 or 36 hours available, every third weekend

Salary:

Pay starts at $38.00 an hour and may increase based on work history/experience.

Job Requirements:

Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited college of nursing required OR obtained within 5 years from date of hire for nurses with an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
Successful completion of annual mandatory education requirements.
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required.
National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification training required by the completion of orientation.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in hospital nursing required.
Current valid Nebraska Registered Nurse (RN) License, valid compact multistate license to work in Nebraska, or a temporary permit while awaiting licensure required.
Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) strongly preferred at time of hire, required within 3 months of hire.
BLS required at time of hire for this position.
Certification(s) in area of specialty preferred.
