Hope & Comfort is a nonprofit organization dedicated to ending hygiene insecurity by providing access to essential hygiene products and raising awareness of this often overlooked public health and equity issue.
Through a network of more than 625 community partners across Massachusetts, Hope & Comfort distributes hygiene essentials while advancing research and advocacy to help ensure everyone has access to the products they need to live healthy, confident, and dignified lives.
Our communications play an important role in increasing awareness, inspiring generosity, engaging volunteers, and sharing the impact of our work.
Position Overview

This individual will plan, capture, produce, edit, organize, and publish compelling visual content that supports fundraising, marketing, volunteer engagement, donor stewardship, community awareness, and organizational communications.
This role is ideal for an experienced multimedia professional who enjoys working independently and takes ownership of every stage of the creative process, from identifying stories and capturing content to editing, publishing, and managing digital assets. While strategic priorities will be established by the Vice President of Development, the successful candidate will be expected to make sound creative decisions and execute projects with minimal day-to-day supervision.
This position requires regular travel throughout Massachusetts to document Hope & Comfort's work wherever it happens, including volunteer events, fundraising events, community partner visits, public presentations, and other organizational activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Capture professional photography and video at volunteer events, fundraising events, community partner locations, product distributions, public presentations, donor visits, and other organizational activities.
- Create engaging content for social media, the website, email marketing, fundraising campaigns, annual reports, donor stewardship, grant reports, and other communications.
- Conduct thoughtful interviews with volunteers, donors, staff, board members, community partners, and, when appropriate, individuals with lived experience of hygiene insecurity.
- Independently identify meaningful stories and recommend content opportunities that support Hope & Comfort's communications and fundraising goals.
- Plan, film, edit, caption, and publish short form and long form video content, including social media videos, campaign videos, event recaps, volunteer spotlights, testimonial videos, and Hope & Comfort's annual fundraising and impact video.
- Create, schedule, and publish content across Hope & Comfort's social media platforms.
- Maintain an organized digital library of photographs, videos, interviews, B-roll, and other creative assets for future fundraising and communications needs.
- Represent Hope & Comfort professionally while working with volunteers, donors, community partners, and members of the public.
- Obtain and document all required media consents before recording or publishing content.
Qualifications
Qualified candidates should have:
- Professional experience in photography, videography, editing, and visual storytelling.
- Experience independently managing projects from concept through final delivery.

- Proficiency with professional camera equipment, lighting, audio recording, and editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Adobe Lightroom, Adobe Photoshop, Canva, or comparable tools.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- The ability to work independently while collaborating closely with the Vice President of Development.
- A valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Experience working with nonprofit organizations, documentary storytelling, journalism, fundraising communications, or mission-driven organizations is preferred.
Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States. Hope & Comfort is unable to sponsor employment visas.
Travel Requirements
This position requires regular travel throughout Massachusetts.
The successful candidate must:
- Have reliable transportation and be able to travel independently throughout the Commonwealth.
- Be available to attend events during evenings and weekends, as many fundraising events, volunteer activities, and community engagements occur outside traditional business hours.
- Be comfortable traveling to Hope & Comfort's office, community partner locations, conferences, public events, and other organizational activities throughout Massachusetts.
- Complete photography and video production on site. Editing and post production work may be completed remotely.
Ethical Storytelling
Hygiene insecurity is an emerging public health and equity issue that often carries stigma for the individuals and families experiencing it.
This position requires professionalism, empathy, discretion, and sound judgment. The successful candidate will create content involving volunteers, community partners, and, when appropriate and with informed consent, individuals with lived experience of hygiene insecurity.
All storytelling must preserve the dignity, privacy, and humanity of the people Hope & Comfort serves. The successful candidate must be comfortable conducting interviews on sensitive topics and telling authentic stories with compassion and respect.
All photography, videography, interviews, and recordings must comply with Hope & Comfort's media consent policies and applicable privacy laws.
