Full Job Description

Rothman Orthopaedics is looking to hire an Athletic Trainer (ATC) as a Non-Surgical Clinical Assistant to support one of our Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation physicians! The Clinical Assistant aids the doctor with clinical and administrative duties. Responsibilities include vitals, moving/positioning patients, prepping injections, phlebotomy, assisting with authorizations, scripts, and order entry, patient touchpoints, and more. Essential Duties:

Greets patients in the waiting room and escorts them to the exam room. Directs patient to surgery scheduling and/or front desk for checkout.
Maintains order, cleanliness, and inventory in the exam room, and prepares exam room for patients to enter.
Cleans and autoclaves instruments.
Provides and scans proper paperwork to the chart for Physician's review.
Records vitals as per Physician's request.
Prepares injections for the Physician.
Pulls up x-rays, MRI's, CT's, and various studies pertaining to the patient's exam.
Assists patient with clothing when necessary.
Disposes of biohazardous waste and sharps according to OSHA regulation and replaces sharps containers when existing containers are full.
Answers telephones in patient areas and provides voicemail coverage for Physician.
Requests reports for various facilities for Physicians.
Empties and restocks laundry.
Scans appointment tracking to identify when patients are ready to be seen by the Physician and directs Physician in patient appointment order.
Reviews Physician schedules for chart preparation including ensuring operative reports, dictations, and studies are present in the chart.
Completes pre-certifications for MRI's and other Physician orders as necessary.
Send Visco Injection authorization request to supplement pre-certification representative
Scans information into patient record (including all Physician orders, prescriptions, etc. on the date of service).
Covers other areas in the office when not assigned to a Physician.
Covers Provider jellybeans and voicemail as needed/requested
Attends required meetings and participates on committees as requested.
Knowledge of fax logs
Responsible for the development, and quarterly update, of physician protocols for: office hours, medication draws, patient education, voice mail/jelly beans (chat messages) and clinical protocols.
Reads and responds to email communications within appropriate time frame.
Identifies weekly schedule, including schedule changes, published by manager.
Handle specimens (including urine, blood and drainage from incisions, aspirated fluids, etc.) and label accordingly. Follow order instructions of provider to ensure specimen is sent to appropriate lab for analyzation.
Exemplifies the desired culture and philosophies of the organization.

Qualifications:

Must have active, valid BOC certification
Must have active, valid NJ AT licensure by start of employment
Knowledge of anatomy and physiology
Experience (professional or clinical rotations) working hands-on with patients required
Computer skills including, but not limited to, MS Office Suite

Total Hours per Week:
