Full Job Description

Job Overview

The Community Behavioral Health Collaborative is seeking a highly organized, adaptable Clinical Support Specialist to help launch and operate NevadaREACH, a new mobile and telehealth-based health program serving rural and frontier communities in northern Nevada. NevadaREACH will provide coordinated medical, behavioral health, substance use disorder, maternal health, care coordination, and community support services, with particular emphasis on women of childbearing age and pregnant and postpartum individuals affected by or at risk for opioid use disorder.

This is an ideal position for someone who is energized by building a new program rather than stepping into a fully established one. The successful candidate will be comfortable working with some ambiguity, identifying gaps, testing solutions, and helping to develop reliable day-to-day systems.

The Clinical Support Specialist will help connect the project’s clinical, operational, and administrative pieces. The position will support participant access, scheduling, clinical workflows, documentation, referral tracking, communication among team members, and ongoing quality improvement. The specialist will work closely with medical and behavioral health providers, supervisors, trainees, community health workers, the Mobile Unit Coordinator, and project leadership.

Duties

Participant Access and Clinical Support

Serve as a point of contact for participants, referral partners, and community organizations seeking NevadaREACH services.
Respond to calls, messages, referrals, and service inquiries using approved communication systems.
Support intake, eligibility verification, appointment scheduling, reminders, rescheduling, and follow-up.
Gather non-diagnostic intake information.
Coordinate appointments involving medical providers, behavioral health providers, trainees, community health workers, and other members of the care team.
Support warm handoffs and continuity between NevadaREACH and outside medical, behavioral health, maternal health, pharmacy, recovery, and social-service providers.
Track referrals and follow up to determine whether participants successfully connected with recommended services.

Clinical Workflow and Documentation Support

Support accurate and timely entry of participant, appointment, referral, and service information into the approved electronic health record and tracking systems.
Review records for completeness and follow up with staff regarding missing forms, signatures, releases, or required documentation.
Prepare schedules, participant lists, referral information, and other materials needed for mobile service days.
Coordinate the flow of information among providers, supervisors, trainees, and care coordination staff.
Help maintain confidentiality and appropriate handling of information protected by HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and university policies.
Support collection of service data needed for grant reporting, quality assurance, reimbursement, and continuous quality improvement.

Mobile and Telehealth Operations

Coordinate closely with the Mobile Unit Coordinator to ensure clinical schedules, staffing plans, participant appointments, equipment, forms, and supplies are ready for each service day.
Help troubleshoot real-time scheduling, technology, communication, or workflow issues during mobile and telehealth operations.
Support use of Zoom Phone, telehealth platforms, ClinicNote, referral-management tools, and other approved systems.
Assist with participant flow and privacy within the mobile setting.
Help monitor clinical supply needs and communicate replenishment needs to the appropriate staff member.
Provide operational backup during staff absences or changing field conditions.

Quality Assurance and Team Coordination

Assist the Clinical Director and Medical Director with chart-review preparation, workflow audits, corrective-action tracking, and quality-improvement activities.
Track action items arising from clinical, supervision, compliance, and implementation meetings.
Communicate emerging concerns promptly and professionally.
Contribute to a culture that is trauma-informed, participant-centered, collaborative, and responsive to rural community needs.
Create practical tools such as checklists, tracking systems, workflow maps, scripts, templates, and standard operating procedures.
Identify operational gaps or bottlenecks and work with project leadership to develop workable solutions.
Help establish systems that can be used consistently across mobile, telehealth, and community-based service settings.
Maintain current versions of procedures, forms, resource lists, and clinical support materials.
Participate in implementation meetings and contribute recommendations based on day-to-day program experience.

Experience & Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in public health, social work, psychology, behavioral health, health administration, human services, nursing support, or a closely related field.
Experience in a healthcare, behavioral health, substance use treatment, community health, social-service, or clinical administrative setting.
Demonstrated ability to organize multiple workflows, priorities, deadlines, and team communications.
Strong written and verbal communication skills in both English and Spanish.
Experience using electronic records, scheduling systems, shared databases, spreadsheets, or similar technology.
Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team.
Comfort working in a new or evolving program where processes may need to be developed, tested, and revised.
Ability to travel to rural service locations aboard a mobile health unit.
Valid driver’s license and ability to meet applicable university travel or driving requirements.

Pay: Up to $60,000.00 per year
