Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Field Services Supervisor to oversee drilling and field operations for a highly prospective gold project in Nevada. This role is responsible for coordinating drill programs, managing contractors, ensuring safe and efficient field execution, and supporting the collection of high-quality geological data that drives exploration and resource growth.
This is a contract-to-hire opportunity with a growing mining company focused on advancing a promising project with significant exploration upside. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting drilling, exploration, and project development activities while helping establish the operational foundation for future growth.
The selected candidate should be willing to relocate to the Elko, Nevada area within 6 months to support the long-term needs of the project.
Key Responsibilities:
Field & Drill Program Management
Supervise daily drilling and field operations.
Coordinate drilling schedules, contractor mobilization, rig moves, and site logistics.
Ensure drill and excavation programs are executed according to geological, environmental, and operational requirements.
Monitor productivity, drilling performance, and operational efficiency.
Track daily drilling progress, footage, costs, and field activities.
Assist with planning and execution of exploration and resource definition programs.
Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance
Promote and maintain a strong safety culture.
Ensure compliance with company policies, MSHA regulations, and environmental requirements.
Conduct safety meetings, inspections, and field audits.
Identify, mitigate, and report safety and environmental risks.
Coordinate reclamation activities and site closure requirements following program completion.
Contractor & Vendor Management
Manage drilling contractors, excavation contractors, field service providers, and vendors.
Ensure contractors adhere to company safety, environmental, and operational standards.
Review contractor invoices, drilling reports, and service agreements.
Assist with contractor selection, bid evaluations, and performance management.
Maintain strong working relationships with contractors and project stakeholders.
Geological & Data Support
Coordinate sample collection, labeling, and shipment to laboratories.
Ensure proper QA/QC protocols and chain-of-custody procedures are followed.
Support geologists with drill targeting, collar location verification, and field logistics.
Maintain accurate drilling records, downhole surveys, and field documentation.
Assist with data management and exploration database updates.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with geology, engineering, environmental, land, permitting, and operations teams.
Support drill program permitting, land access, and environmental compliance activities.
Coordinate field resources to ensure efficient project execution.
Participate in project planning and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
Required
7+ years of experience supporting mineral exploration drilling programs.
Strong experience with RC and diamond core drilling operations.
Previous supervisory experience in drilling, exploration, or field operations.
Strong understanding of drill site safety, MSHA standards, and field operations.
Knowledge of Nevada exploration logistics, terrain, and operating conditions.
Ability to manage multiple drill rigs, contractors, and priorities simultaneously.
Familiarity with drill hole survey tools and downhole instrumentation.
Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Valid driver's license and ability to travel between project sites.
Preferred
Experience supporting gold exploration and resource development projects in Nevada.
Experience with low-sulfidation epithermal or sediment-hosted gold systems.
Familiarity with exploration database platforms such as acQuire, Geosequel, or MX Deposit.
Knowledge of Nevada permitting, reclamation, and land access procedures.
Previous experience working on BLM-administered lands.
Work Environment
Primarily field-based role supporting exploration and development activities in Nevada.
Work performed in remote locations, rugged terrain, and varying weather conditions.
Extended time in the field during active drilling campaigns.
Potential rotational schedule based on project requirements.
Physical Requirements
Ability to work outdoors for extended periods.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to walk and work on uneven terrain.
Comfortable working around heavy equipment and drilling operations.
