Staff Accountant

Location: Louisville, Kentucky
Position Type: Full Time
Work Location: On Site, Monday through Friday

Position Overview

Gregory Construction is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our accounting and finance team in Louisville, Kentucky.

The Staff Accountant supports Gregory Construction's accounting and finance operations by performing day to day accounting activities with accuracy, timeliness, and integrity. This position focuses on execution, documentation, and compliance to ensure financial records are complete and reliable and support operational and leadership decision making.

The Staff Accountant will work closely with senior accounting staff and other departments to maintain accurate financial data in a fast paced heavy civil construction environment.

This is an on site position in Louisville, Kentucky, Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities

Perform general accounting functions, including journal entries, account analysis, and general ledger maintenance.
Prepare and assist with monthly balance sheet reconciliations under the direction of senior accounting staff.
Assist with month end and year end close processes.
Support budgeting and forecasting activities through data preparation and reporting.
Prepare financial schedules and internal reports as requested.
Assist with job cost reporting and analysis for construction projects.
Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation.
Ensure transactions are recorded in accordance with company policies and accounting standards.
Assist with audits by preparing schedules and responding to information requests.
Collaborate with Human Resources and other departments as needed to support payroll, benefits, and cost tracking.
Identify opportunities for process improvement and assist with implementing best practices.
Perform additional accounting and administrative responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
3 to 5 years of accounting experience preferred.
Construction accounting or job cost accounting experience is a plus.
Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
Experience with Foundation or a similar construction accounting system is preferred.
Strong attention to detail and solid analytical skills.
Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines.
Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, deadline driven environment.

On Site Requirement

This position is based in Louisville, Kentucky and requires on site work Monday through Friday.

The Staff Accountant will work closely with our accounting team and other departments, so regular in person attendance is an important part of the position.
