Full Job Description

Michigan Staffing is looking for a Tool and Die Maker ( a contract to hire position) for a Metal Stamping company in the Chesterfield MI area. This is a great opportunity for a person looking for stable work environment

The Tool & Die Maker must be able to run all tool room machinery. They must also be able to do extensive die maintenance and upgrade tooling of all sorts. The Tool and Die Maker must also be able to build new tooling such as dies, fixtures, gages, etc. We are looking for a skilled Journeyman. Salary is based on experience level.

JOB/TASK FUNCTIONS:

Must be able to view CAD drawings / prints and understand datum structure, GD&T, and general tolerancing.
Must be able to run tool room machines (bridgeport, surface grinder, drill press, lathe, etc.)
Must :
be able to create dies from drawings provided.
be able to set proper die clearances for trims, holes, and forms during Die Tryout.
Must be capable of:
setting dies (hilo)
setting coils (crane)
starting strip, setting feeder (progression), setting pilot release, and making ram adjustments
While die is in press, must be capable of:
running first piece
modifying tool to clear for interferences
use conventional layout tools (surface plate, angle plate, height gage, calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, ...) as well as check aids (provided) to determine quality of parts at initial tryout.
work with CMM Programmer in compilation of layout and capability data.
Must be able to paint, stencil, and finalize die for production prior to shipment.
working with plant personnel, make tooling adjustments as necessary to support PPAP requirement.
Promote teamwork and show a willingness to work with other departments.
Take initiative to find solutions quickly to problems that arise.
Demonstrate good work planning practices in order to do jobs in a very timely, efficient, and safe manner.
Demonstrate self-motivation and willingness to continually improve work.
Excellent attendance record and safety record.
Willing to work to company’s work schedule.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Skills

Responsible for reading and understanding the TS16949 and ISO-14001 procedures
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
GD&T Knowledge
Ability to run all tool room and precision equipment efficiently.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
