About the Role:

The Patient Services Representative plays a critical role in ensuring a seamless and positive experience for patients within healthcare settings such as physician offices and hospitals. This position is responsible for managing patient registration and billing processes accurately and efficiently, serving as a vital link between patients and healthcare providers. The role requires meticulous attention to detail to handle sensitive medical information, insurance verification, and billing inquiries while maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations. By effectively coordinating communication and documentation, the Patient Services Representative helps facilitate timely patient care and supports the financial operations of the healthcare facility. Ultimately, this role contributes to enhancing patient satisfaction and operational efficiency within the healthcare environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or higher in a related field preferred.
Proven experience in patient registration and billing within a healthcare setting.
Familiarity with medical insurance processes and medical terminology.
Strong manual dexterity and proficiency in using office equipment including fax machines.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working in a physician office or hospital billing department.
Knowledge of electronic health record (EHR) systems and healthcare management software.
Certification in medical billing or coding.
Strong communication skills with the ability to handle sensitive patient interactions professionally.
Ability to multitask and manage time effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Responsibilities:

Manage patient registration by accurately collecting and entering patient demographic and insurance information.
Process patient billing and insurance claims, ensuring accuracy and timely submission to insurance providers.
Serve as the primary point of contact for patient inquiries related to billing, insurance coverage, and appointment scheduling.
Maintain detailed and organized patient records, including handling medical terminology and documentation.
Operate office equipment such as fax machines to transmit and receive patient information securely.
Collaborate with healthcare providers and administrative staff to resolve billing discrepancies and insurance issues.
Ensure compliance with healthcare privacy laws and institutional policies when handling patient information.
