Hours: Mon.-Thur. 5:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. (Four 10-hour days)
Pay: $24.62-$29.42/hour depending on experience (non-exempt position)

Summary:
This position involves setting up and operating automatic or semi-automatic CNC machines to perform standard and repetitive sequences of operations where programs are provided including vertical mills, line drills, lathes, saws, flame cutters, and plasma cutters, to produce high-quality parts. The role requires ensuring compliance with Tandemloc, Inc.'s policies, procedures, and tolerances while meeting production schedules.
Key responsibilities include verifying technical drawings, bills of materials, tooling, and programs; setting up and machining material to technical specifications; counting and inspecting parts; inspecting and maintaining tools; performing machine maintenance; and operating pallet jacks, cranes, and forklifts.
All work must be carried out safely and in compliance with Tandemloc, state, and federal safety regulations, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, safety-toed shoes, gloves, hearing protection, and face shields.
This position reports directly to the CNC Shop Foreman.
Education and Work Experience:
- Completion of formal machinist apprenticeship program or equivalent community college/vocational school education.
- Three (3) or more years related experience preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may be acceptable.
- Two (2) or more years Flame and Plasma Cutting experience a plus.
Technical Skills and Abilities:
- Must operate with professionalism, a positive attitude, and willingness to work as a team.
- Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions with limited supervision.
- Must be able to focus on safety and performance, ensuring effective and efficient work execution.
- Ability to read technical drawings and have the mechanical aptitude to use and understand measuring devices (e.g., calipers, micrometer, thread gauges, steel rulers).
- Must be able to verify all technical drawings, bill of materials, material, tooling, and programs are ready before running a work order.
- Ability to learn to set up and operate all CNC and machine shop equipment efficiently.
- Must be able to manipulate and nest the placement of cutting diagrams to maximize material usage and minimize waste.
- Cut material into shapes per technical drawings and tolerances utilizing engineering supplied DXF file.
- Inspects each machined part, verifies mating part compatibility, and performs first-piece inspections at designated intervals.
- Count all parts machined.
- Must be able to recognize and alert CNC Machine Shop Foreman of issues as they arise.
- Change, sharpen, unload, and load tooling as directed and needed.
- Change nozzles and tips when operating CNC oxy-fuel and plasma cutting tables as directed and needed.
- Ability to use pallet jacks, forklift, and overhead cranes to move and load material.
- Must be able to do repetitive tasks.
- Ability to verbally convey counts, statuses, needs, etc. in a clear concise manner.
- Must be able to work in constant exposure to one or more elements typically found in a manufacturing setting such as noise, dust, heat, fumes, or dirt. Work environment is not entirely environmentally controlled to include very hot conditions in the summer months and limited heat in the winter.
- Requires good manual dexterity and physical stamina, with the ability to stand, kneel, lift, bend, twist, and lift up to 50 lbs. overhead for extended periods.
- Must be able to wear protective clothing, earplugs, safety glasses, etc. while performing many of the tasks.
