Position Overview
The purpose of this role is to ensure that quality issues are identified, documented, communicated, and resolved properly. The Quality Control Inspector helps protect the company, customer, and production team by ensuring that equipment is inspected, nonconformances are controlled, and corrective actions are completed before final release.
The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for supporting daily quality activities related to inspections, documentation, nonconformance reporting, and production support. This role helps ensure that equipment, parts, and completed units meet company requirements, customer expectations, engineering specifications, and quality standards before moving forward in the process or being released for shipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform receiving, in-process, and final inspections on equipment, parts, and completed units.
- Inspect units for workmanship, damage, missing components, incorrect installation, labeling, cleanliness, fitment, and overall quality concerns.
- Document inspection findings clearly with photos, notes, measurements, and supporting details.
- Create, update, and track Nonconformance Reports when defects, damage, or quality concerns are identified.
- Follow up with Engineering, Production, HQ, Procurement, and vendors for NCR dispositions, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and closure requirements.
- Verify that rework or repair actions have been completed before closing NCRs or releasing affected items.
- Support production by reviewing quality concerns, confirming disposition instructions, and helping ensure work is completed per Engineering or HQ guidance.
- Maintain inspection records, reports, checklists, job travelers, punch lists, and supporting quality documentation.
- Perform or support NDT/PT inspections when required and document results accurately.
- Assist with customer walk-throughs, shipment readiness reviews, and final quality checks.
- Monitor units, parts, and materials placed in the QC/NCR cage and ensure items are properly identified, labeled, and controlled.
- Track open quality issues and communicate updates during weekly reports, meetings, and follow-ups.
- Support ISO 9001 quality management activities, including process improvements, document control, supplier quality, and internal procedures.
- Work with cross-functional teams to improve inspection processes, reduce repeat issues, and support continuous improvement.
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 3 years of Quality Control, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing Inspection, or Industrial Inspection experience in a manufacturing, industrial, oil & gas, power generation, heavy equipment, or related environment.
- Ability to inspect mechanical, electrical, structural, and general assembly conditions.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify quality defects or workmanship concerns.
- Ability to read and follow drawings, work instructions, inspection checklists, NCRs, and engineering dispositions.
- Basic understanding of quality control processes, NCR tracking, corrective action, and inspection documentation.
- Ability to take clear photos and prepare accurate inspection reports.
- Ability to work with Production, Engineering, Procurement, HQ, vendors, and customers as needed.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to track multiple open issues at one time.
Preferred Requirements
- Associate degree or technical training in Quality, Manufacturing, Mechanical Technology, Industrial Technology, or a related field preferred.
- Experience inspecting gas turbine packages, generators, rotating equipment, skid-mounted equipment, electrical control panels, or industrial power generation systems.
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001 quality requirements
- NDT experience and certifications (PT, MT, VT, or UT) or applicable inspection certifications.
- Experience supporting root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
- Experience working with ERP or quality management software.
- ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) or Certified Quality Technician (CQT).
- NDT certifications (PT, MT, VT, or UT) or applicable inspection certifications.
- AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or familiarity with weld inspection.
- Experience working with customer inspections, FATs, SATs, or third-party inspectors.

The Quality Control Inspector is expected to perform all duties with a strong commitment to safety, ensuring the well-being of themselves, coworkers, customers, and third parties always.
The role requires flexibility to work extended hours, including days, and as needed, nights, weekends, and holidays to support project and service requirements.
Work conditions may vary and include indoor and outdoor settings, exposure to varying weather conditions, and active industrial or construction sites. The Quality Control Inspector must consistently follow all safety protocols and properly utilize required personal protective equipment (PPE).
