Job Description
Denver Fire Alarm is expanding its service capabilities in Western Colorado and is seeking an experienced Fire Sprinkler & Fire Alarm Service / Inspection Technician.
This position is intended for a versatile fire-protection professional who can support customers throughout the Western Slope.
The primary responsibilities will include inspection, testing, service, troubleshooting, and repair of commercial fire sprinkler and fire alarm systems.
Depending on qualifications, the technician may also assist with fire extinguishers, emergency lighting, deficiency repairs, system modifications, and minor installation work.
Candidates who are particularly strong in either fire sprinkler or fire alarm but are interested in cross-training into the other discipline are encouraged to apply.
Fire Sprinkler Responsibilities
- Perform commercial fire sprinkler inspections and testing
- Inspect wet, dry, preaction, and other systems based on qualifications
- Inspect valves, risers, gauges, supervisory devices, waterflow devices, drains, and related components
- Perform required testing and accurately document results
- Identify system deficiencies and recommended repairs
- Perform service and minor repairs within applicable qualifications and licensing requirements
- Coordinate larger repairs and deficiency work with the office
- Assist with backflow-related work when properly certified
Fire Alarm Responsibilities
- Perform commercial fire alarm inspections and testing
- Troubleshoot fire alarm system problems
- Perform service and minor repairs
- Replace devices and system components
- Document deficiencies and recommended corrective actions
- Assist with programming and system modifications when qualified
- Coordinate testing with monitoring companies, customers, inspectors, and other trades
Additional Responsibilities
- Assist with fire extinguisher inspection/service when qualified
- Assist with emergency and exit-lighting inspections
- Complete accurate inspection reports and service documentation
- Submit paperwork and reports promptly
- Communicate directly with customers regarding findings and recommended next steps
- Coordinate scheduling and follow-up work with the Denver Fire Alarm office
- Maintain tools, test equipment, inventory, and assigned company equipment
- Travel throughout the assigned Western Colorado territory
- Assist with minor installations and projects when needed
- Represent Denver Fire Alarm professionally with customers, contractors, and AHJs
Qualifications
- Commercial fire sprinkler inspection/service experience preferred
- Commercial fire alarm inspection/service experience preferred
- Knowledge of applicable NFPA inspection and testing requirements
- Applicable sprinkler licensing/certifications preferred
- NICET certification strongly preferred
- Backflow certification is a plus
- Fire alarm manufacturer certifications are a plus
- Fire extinguisher experience is a plus
- Emergency-lighting experience is a plus
- Strong troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work independently and manage a regional service territory
- Strong customer-service and communication skills
- Ability to complete accurate inspection and service documentation
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record

Actual compensation will be based on experience, licenses, certifications, technical capability, and overall qualifications.

Pay: $22.00 - $45.00 per hour
