What You’ll Do:

Champion Safety.

Take

an active role in prioritizing safety throughout the operation for yourself and others at all times in accordance with MSHA and Vulcan standards. Perform duties safely, responsibly, and proficiently.

Maintain Cash Fund.

Maintain cash fund accurately and report any discrepancies. Handle cash sales by collecting cash, checks, or credit card transactions.

Maintain Office.

Maintain the office in a neat and professional manner. Answer phones and handle office duties and projects as requested.

Prepare and Operate Scales.

Prepare scales for daily use. Work with Plant Admin Support Supervisors to troubleshoot and repair issues. Operate the truck scales and generate correct tickets for the customers. Weigh and record incoming materials such as gasoline, diesel fuel, explosives, and scrap sales.

Provide Excellent Customer Service.

Greet customers in a professional and polite manner. Communicate clearly with customers to bill transactions correctly. Listen to customer issues and complaints and work to resolve them through communication with the sales/dispatch department. Direct customers to piles and instruct load out personnel of customer needs.

Ensure Quality Control.

Conduct routine testing of in-process materials, raw materials, environmental samples, and finished materials to ensure quality control of products at the point of production, shipping, and arrival upon the job site. Adhere to testing methods, including American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) and

Department of Transportation (DOT).

Document and Report Information.

Complete all required reports in a timely and accurate manner, interpreting, documenting, and storing the results. Communicate test results in a timely manner to the supervisor and properly document in a database.

Maintain Lab Standards.

Ensure housekeeping standards are maintained in and around the lab. Troubleshoot problems and review basic product specifications. Inspect, calibrate, and maintain testing equipment periodically.

Monitor Stockpile.

Inspect stockpiles, materials sources, and truckloads at plant sites. Monitor the daily construction of the stockpile to ensure that segregation and contamination is kept to a minimum or eliminated. Notify management immediately if contamination is identified.

Inspect Equipment and Structures.

Conduct routine inspections of the plant equipment in order to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant operations to maximize production and minimize interruptions.

Additional Responsibilities.
M
ust also be willing and able to operate heavy equipment, perform some general maintenance and general support duties, and learn to run the scales and plant as needed.

Responsibilities Skills You’ll Need:

Education.

Must have your high school diploma or its equivalent.

Experience.

Minimum of two years of experience in a customer service role is preferred. Experience in an aggregate or scale house setting is preferred.

Prior training or experience in the materials testing field is preferred. Knowledge of general principles and practices of aggregate production is preferred. Experience operating heavy equipment or scales is a plus.

Safety Knowledge.

Must display knowledge and awareness of construction and mining site hazards.

Math Skills.

Must possess good math skills and demonstrate the ability to perform simple to moderately complex arithmetic calculations.

Technology Skills.

Must have the ability to use computerized equipment and technology. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Google, Oracle Business Environment, and other software packages relevant to the position.

Communication Skills.

Must have effective written and oral communication skills.

Time Management Skills.

Must have organizational skills with a focus on the prioritization of workload. Must be detail-oriented, self-motivated, dependable, timely, and reliable.

Technology Skills.

Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Drive, Oracle Business Environment, and other software packages relevant to the position.

Flexibility.

Must be willing to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands. Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and

tolerate being exposed to loud noises.

The base salary range for this role is between

$26.40 - $32.51

per hour. This range is not inclusive of our discretionary bonus or equity package. When determining a candidate’s compensation, we consider a number of factors, including skillset, experience, job scope, and current market data.
