Entech Engineering, Inc. is seeking an experienced Electrical Designer to support architectural engineering, facilities, utilities, and infrastructure-related projects. This position is intended for a candidate who has developed strong electrical design capability through relevant work experience, technical training, military service, apprenticeship, construction experience, drafting experience, or another nontraditional career path.
The successful candidate will work under the direction of licensed professional engineers as part of a multidisciplinary team of engineers, designers, architects, planners, and project managers. Primary project work will include MEP design for buildings and facilities, with emphasis on utility infrastructure, campus systems, electrical distribution, lighting, power, controls coordination, and construction support.
This position is available from our Beaver Falls, Reading, Lancaster, or Pottsville, PA office locations.
- Assist with the design and documentation of electrical systems for buildings, campuses, utilities, and infrastructure projects.

Prepare and revise electrical drawings, details, schedules, diagrams, and specifications under the direction of senior engineering staff.

Support design of normal power, emergency power, lighting, lighting controls, fire alarm, communications, security, and related low-voltage systems.

Assist with electrical service assessments, field investigations, existing-condition documentation, equipment inventories, and utility coordination.

Assist engineers with load calculations, panel schedules, voltage-drop calculations, lighting calculations, equipment selections, and other routine design tasks.

Develop and maintain design documents using AutoCAD and, as capability develops, Revit.

Coordinate electrical design work with mechanical, plumbing, architectural, civil, structural, and owner requirements.

Participate in site visits, field surveys, construction meetings, and punch-list reviews.

Assist with review of submittals, RFIs, contractor questions, and record documents during construction administration.

Support project teams in delivering practical and constructible design solutions that meet applicable codes, client needs, schedules, and budgets.
- Demonstrated competency in electrical design, drafting, electrical construction, systems integration, or a related technical field.

Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code and general building electrical-system design practices.

Familiarity with electrical design for power distribution, lighting, lighting controls, fire alarm, communications, emergency power, and related building systems.

Proficiency or working capability in AutoCAD; Revit experience or willingness to learn Revit is expected.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.

Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, equipment schedules, specifications, and construction documents.

Ability to perform field investigations and accurately document existing electrical systems and conditions.

Ability to work under the responsible charge and technical direction of licensed professional engineers.

- High school diploma or equivalent.

Approximately 3-10 years of directly relevant electrical design, drafting, construction, controls, or related technical experience is preferred; equivalent combinations of training and experience will be considered.

Strong professional references or recommendations that substantiate technical competency, reliability, and relevant experience.

Combination of office-based design, hybrid collaboration, and field visits including site investigations, construction observation, utility coordination, and client meetings.
Local travel required a few times per month with occasional overnight travel required.
Field work may include walking active facilities and construction sites, climbing stairs or ladders, and accessing electrical rooms and equipment areas in accordance with Entech and client safety requirements.
