Job Summary:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Supports and promotes the mission and values of Covenant Health Ministry.

Assists the Clinical Nurse Manager, Director, and Senior Nursing Director with performance improvement plans and progressive discipline as needed, mentoring staff for self-improvement.

Performs clinically, as directed by department manager and/or director to meet the demands of the unit and patient care.
-
Develops an overall view of patients, families and caregivers, and establishes strong partnerships with them to deliver optimal care.

Use of an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) with knowledge and understanding to support departmental teams, maintaining accountability for use and documentation.

Attends unit-level meetings and nursing councils/committees (i.e., UAC, staff meetings, to assess standard of practice and to disseminate professional practice information.

Collaborates with other members of the interdisciplinary team, identifies and implements patient care initiatives that support the highest quality of care delivered.
-
Develops, implements, and evaluates practice improvements using quality tools for patients on his/her unit. Supports and leads unit advisory council, promoting shared governance.

Understands and educates the nursing team to the organizations strategic plan, quality score card and participates in the development of the unit-based department alignment board.

Participates in planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient outcomes for a defined cohort of patients.

Assures that there is continuous assessment/improvement of services provided through department auditing and as an active member of Nursing Councils and/or committees.

Assists in meeting requirements of outside regulatory agencies including DNV, CMS and other agencies as appropriate to the service area.

Uses established nursing standards/policies when designing patient care following the New Hampshire Board of Nursing and ANA guidelines.

Maintains knowledge of hospital policies and procedures and disseminates updated and new polices to staff.

Incorporates evidenced-based practice into clinical care delivered by self and others.

Collaborates with Nursing Leadership, and Education, to improve the competency of all staff members and the delivery of patient care services.

Incorporates performance improvement data, current evidence- based practices, and adult learning theory into nursing professional development practice.

Actively participates in department huddles and the organizations daily safety huddle.
-
Acts as a unit champion for new products and services implemented both unit based and hospital wide.
-
Is visible, accessible, and committed to communicating effectively with staff.
-
Demonstrates leadership skills and is responsible to organize, manage and evaluate the function of a team.
-
Acts as the tele-neurology designee as needed.
-
Flexible schedule to ensure adequate communication and training to staff on all shifts.
-
Assists and collaborates with department CNM, and/or Directors to ensure staffing schedule is completed, balanced and posted timely
-
Supports the department CNM and/or Directors to complete annual reviews and career interviews within the month they are due

Assists the CNM and/or Directors to review payroll daily, ensuring department productivity is met.

Mentor to staff enrolling in clinical advancement, new preceptors and unit charge RNs

Able to give and receive constructive criticism and implement change

Participates and supports hourly rounding and daily leadership rounding

Demonstrates professionalism through adversity and provides customer service recovery

Multidisciplinary approach to providing age friendly environments throughout the organization.

Collaborates with Clinical Nursing Education to plan and provide annual based skills training.
-
Assists the CNM and/or Directors with onboarding of new hires, ensuring competencies are met. Collaborating with Clinical Nursing Education to determine best plan for successful onboarding routinely throughout the orientation period.

Other duties as consistent with this role.
Job Requirements
Job Knowledge and Skills

Registered Nurses working in specialty areas must meet requirements for those specialties as determined by that specific discipline.
For the Emergency Department Nurse Champion
-
Geriatric-specific CNE or CEU training.
For the Intensive Care Unit
-
Expertise in management of critically ill patients including, but not limited to critical care infusions and titration, Mechanical Ventilation, DKA, Temporary Pacing, Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump, Impella, Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy, Level 3 trauma care, ICP monitoring, Swan-Ganz Catheters, and A-lines.
Education and Experience
-
Current, valid New Hampshire Registered Nurse License required.
-
Successful completion from an approved School of Nursing strongly preferred.
-
ASN, BSN degree preferred.
-
Minimum of 3-5 Years clinical nursing experience required.
-
Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) required.
-
Basic Dysrhythmia certification required
-
NIHSS certification preferred or obtaining prior to completion of orientation for the ED, Urgent Care, PACU and ICU
-
Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training preferred or obtained prior to completion of orientation.
-
CPI advanced training required within 6 months of hire for the ED and ICU
-
CPI advanced dementia training required within 6 months of hire for Senior Behavioral Health
-
Membership in a professional organization preferred.
-
NRP- Preferred - required within 60 days of hire for Maternal Child Health.
-
PALS Preferred –
-
required prior to completion of orientation for Urgent Care, Maternal Child Health and PACU.
-
Required prior to assuming care for critically ill pediatric patient for Emergency Department (may have ENPC in place of PALs)
-
TNCC – Preferred – required within 18 months of hire for the Emergency Department
-
TCAR – Preferred – required within 1 year of hire for the ICU and PACU.

Comp Range:
$40.64 - $55.96
