Job Title: Material HandlerJob Description
This role supports a busy warehouse operation by safely moving, measuring, and staging metal materials using powered industrial equipment. The material handler follows detailed work order instructions, ensures accurate selection and placement of materials in the inventory racking system, and delivers materials to designated processing areas while maintaining a strong focus on safety and productivity on 2nd shift in Southington, CT (1:30 PM – 10:00 PM).
Responsibilities-
Prioritize safety at all times while operating heavy machinery and working in the warehouse.

Organize pull tickets by location and material type to plan efficient retrieval of materials from the inventory racking system.

Safely operate powered industrial vehicles, including forklifts, side loaders, and overhead cranes, to move materials throughout the facility.

Measure material accurately using calipers, micrometers, and tape measures to confirm dimensions and specifications.

Transport and place materials into designated locations within the inventory racking system.

Deliver material to assigned saw locations and other processing areas according to work order instructions.

Record and report any inventory discrepancies to maintain accurate stock records.

Perform final inspections to verify that the correct material has been pulled for machine operators and production orders.

Tag and return material drops and remnants from processed jobs to appropriate inventory locations.

Stage completed orders in the correct shipping and loading zones to prepare for delivery.

Prepare, handle, and dispose of scrap material according to company procedures.

Perform additional warehouse and material handling duties as directed by the supervisor to support overall operations.
Essential Skills-
Ability to read and understand English to follow written and verbal work instructions.

Demonstrated history of working safely and productively in an industrial or warehouse environment.

Forklift operation experience strongly preferred, including safe handling of materials and awareness of safety protocols.

Basic math skills, including the ability to convert decimals and fractions accurately.

Ability to accurately use and read tape measures, calipers, and micrometers for measuring materials.

Dependable and punctual work habits, with a strong commitment to consistent attendance.

Ability to work effectively with others as part of a team in a fast-paced warehouse environment.

High school diploma or equivalent education preferred.

Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position, including operating heavy machinery and handling materials.

Ability to successfully complete background check, drug screen, and physical, as required for this safety-sensitive role.
Additional Skills & Qualifications-
Experience with material handling, including picking, packing, loading, and staging orders.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.29 - $25.00/hr.
