We are a high-volume, fast-paced elder law firm with offices in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. We are seeking a meticulous, empathetic, and highly organized Paralegal to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and is passionate about guiding families through complex legal processes.

Job Summary

As an Estate Administration & Litigation Paralegal, you will manage a robust caseload involving estate and trust administration, probate litigation, and guardianship proceedings. You will serve as a primary point of contact for clients, ensuring exceptional communication, strict deadline compliance, and accurate document preparation across both NJ and PA jurisdictions.

Key Responsibilities

Client Relations & Case Management

Client Liaison: Serve as the primary contact for client data collection, case updates, and guidance through every step of the process.
Communication: Explain legal mechanics and fiduciary roles to families with empathy and clarity.
Follow-up: Proactively contact clients, financial institutions, and courts to advance cases.
Data Integrity: Verify all documentation for accuracy, track information, and input all case updates and communications into an internal system.

Estate & Trust Administration

Probate: Prepare and file petitions and applications for probate and fiduciary appointments. Required court forms, notices, and agreements.
Asset Liquidation: Coordinate the valuation, transfer, and liquidation of estate and trust assets. Prepare and record real property deed transfers along with state required waivers.
Accountings: Draft formal and informal estate and trust accountings.
Tax Support: Assist attorneys with the preparation of NJ and PA inheritance tax returns.

Litigation & Guardianship Support

Pleadings: Draft verified complaints, certifications, affidavits, and orders to show cause.
Guardianship: Prepare petitions for adult guardianship and coordinate necessary medical certifications.
Trial Prep: Organize document production, index case files, and prepare exhibit binders for hearings.
Filings: File legal documents electronically through NJ eCourts and PA judicial systems, as needed.

Required Qualifications & Traits

Initiative & Self-Agency: Intrinsic motivation to chase down missing documents without being micromanaged. Have a strong commitment to task completion and a proactive approach to continuous skill development.
Analytical & Technical: Ability to spot a missing signature, required document, or conflicting information instantly. Proficient with Microsoft programs and have strong organizational and time management skills.
Clear Communication: High emotional intelligence for handling sensitive client family dynamics with exceptional written and verbal skills.

Preferred Experience

1 year of prior paralegal or legal secretary experience. Experience with estate administration, litigation, or guardianship is highly preferred.

Position Details

Full-time in person at our Cherry Hill office
Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm with a 1-hour lunch break
Hourly rate: $28.00 + depending on experience
Training is two weeks
