Duties
- Assist with field surveys including tree identification, plant species recognition, wetland delineation, and ecological assessments
- Support invasive plant management initiatives through data collection and removal strategies
- Use GPS devices and mapping software such as ArcGIS to document field observations and create detailed maps
- Collect and analyze environmental data to support project planning and compliance with environmental regulations
- Contribute to technical report writing by documenting findings from fieldwork and research activities
- Aid in the preparation of environmental permits and ensure adherence to legal standards for natural resource projects
- Participate in habitat restoration projects by monitoring progress and assisting with planting or soil stabilization efforts
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in or recent graduate of a program in Forestry, Environmental Science, Horticulture, Agriculture, or related fields
- Demonstrated outdoor work experience with a strong understanding of field survey techniques
- Proficiency with GPS navigation tools, GIS software (such as ArcGIS), and Microsoft Office applications
- Knowledge of plant identification, dendrology (study of trees), invasive species management, and ecological restoration practices
- Familiarity with environmental law, regulations, and permitting processes related to natural resource management
- Strong data collection, analysis skills, and attention to detail for accurate reporting
- Excellent communication skills for technical report writing and collaboration
